The Hawk's Raiders - An Inquisition Force in Progress

So I got the inspiration to flex my painting/converting muscles and create an inquisition force. Originally, I thought to make a themed army, and I still am to some extent(That theme being Berserk, 40k style), but I decided not to limit myself. Ideally, I'd like to make each and every model a serious conversion, but there may be the occasional lightly to not-at-all converted model included simply because I liked it.

My immediate goal is to get my army painted up for an escalation campaign starting this weekend. However, my long therm goals are quite ambitious. In total it will include:

- A counts-as Coteaz (to enable the whole thing)
- At least one other inquisitor.
- One librarian (converted to be not so GK-ish)
- At least one of each imperial assassin
- Three techmarines w/ conversion beamer option
- 3-6 counts-as dreadnoughts
- 3 counts-as dreadknights
- 6, 12-man henchman warbands with transports.
- This will include at least one large psyker group, two servitor groups, at least 2 cc-heavy squads, jokareos and their conts-as equivalents, and a lot of meltaguns.
- Additionally, there will be one medical themed squad, and one cooking themed squad (because and army fights on its stomach, you know)
- Maybe a stormraven (so I don't neglect Fast Attack entirely).
Once that's all done, I'm gonna dream big! I hope to someday scratch-build one titan of each size.

Now for some backstory.
Years ago, Guts was but an Acolyte serving under Inquisitor Lord Griffith of the Ordo Malleus, a brilliant tactician and fearless fighter known by the nickname "The White Hawk". Guts was the leader of the Hawk's Raiders, warriors specializing in hand-to-hand combat.

While their victories were great, their success was short-lived. A lapse of judgement at a critical moment left the inquisitor crippled and dying in the hands of the enemy. In a moment of weakness, he apealed to the ruinous powers, offering up the lives of all those who served him as payment. The bargain was accepted, he ascended to demonhood, while demons slaughtered his acolytes and agents wholesale. Few escaped, and of those that did, only guts reterned to relay the news of his master's fate. Guts was granted the rank of inquistor himself and set off on a quest for vengeance.

In the time since he has buit up his own personal army once again under the banner of the Hawk's Raiders. Operating on the fringes of the Imperium he sell his service as a mercenary; always on the hunt for news of his fellow acolytes, his fromer master, or a way to end him. Guts does not discriminate; anyone who is willing to fight for proffit is welcome to join. This has gained him many powerfull allies, and many powerful enemies within the Inquisition.Though declared a heretic many times over, there are many who haven't heard of his reuptation as a radical, and many more who simply just don't care, as long as he gets the job done.

End backstroy

So basically Berserk in space, though I took a few liberties with the end.

Now, as for my immediate goals, I need to have 250pts assembled and basecoated by Friday for the first round of the campaign. As I'm not far enough along on my centerpiece mondel, Inquisitor Guts, I'll have to use the real Coteaz for this round. I'll also need to finish 4 warriors, 3 servitors, 2 crusaders, and a chimera. All of them are already assembled with the exception of a single servitor.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Now, To start in on some actual models.

I'd prefer to post pictures of what I'm working on right now, but my camera is currently out of batteries, so I'll have to lead off with a few I've already taken. If I ever get arount to it I'll think up names for each of my henchmen, if only so I can cry out their name dramatically as they're eaten by tryanids.

First up, this female Tau warrior.

So, apparantly, picking up a chainsword, decapitating your enmies and then hauling the chansword back into the devilfish as a souvenir isn't acceptable behavior for a fire caste warrior. In such a case, a young fire warrior may find her and her new chainsword have been transfered and are now stuck pulling guard duty in the middle of nowhere. Well, desertion takes care of that and gets you back to a life of adventure and battle as quickly as possible.

Somewhere along the line this wayward fire warrior ended up in the employ of the Hawk's Raiders.
Front

Back

Side
