Space Wolves and Dark Eldar Blog

Well, I've just finished my Uni dissertation and I'm wanting to get back into my hobby after sporadic on / off love. Whilst I've not had time to paint, I have had time to buy the odd bit.

So where does my hobby stand? Well, after really thinking about it I have decided that I'm doing Necrons anymore. The sole reason that being that Matt Ward makes me want to...well...its Matt Ward. Need I say more?

So, I've decided to switch to doing a Dark Eldar army instead. Had the book since release and now I'm gonna work on a baron list and try and get a game or 2 with them. Here is the paint scheme I'm working on. What do you think?

Sorry about the over exposure, but you get the idea. Also it means I can work on painting purple as well.

For the hellions, I plan on adding graphitti markings to the board like so. Unfortunately I was a bit heavy with the stroke and just went with it. These are still WIP so feedback is appreciated.

Still working on my Ogres and Dark Angels as well, which I'd started a while back and I'll put some pics of those. Still unsure of my dark angel paint scheme, so I hope when they get brought out in the 6th edition (please!!) that some new ways are shown by the heavy metal team that don't suck.

To celebrate my dissertation I got my self a selection of new paints from GW as well as Logan Grimnar. GW Glasgow is having a comp in a couple of weeks for a painted HQ champ. Here is where I'm at with him:

This was taken 2 days ago, and I've made some progress. Once I get the time, I'll take a better pic. Alas all pics will be taken on my iPhone as I don't have a digicam

I've also just bought a Space Wolf battleforce and will be painting that up in record time.

Spent a few more hours on Logan this week. Trying to get him done for the contest next Sat, but I don't think I'm gonna win. Seen one entry today and he had a really nice base, where as mine is probably just gonna be flocked and painted. Maybe I'll get the texture paint, but not much else.

PICTURES!! Again taken with my iPhone and my junkie handshakes. Doing the best I can. C & C is welcome and sought:

I'm happy with how the face turned out, though I'm not gonna paint his eyes. With my luck I'll end up just putting 2 big blobs of white and fething it up. Currently have a couple of issues with the remaining parts:

1) how to paint his wolf cloak
2) how to paint his blade
3) how to paint the crux on his leg

Still need to finish his gun casing and wolf talismen on his leg. Rest is pretty much done.

Your painting level looks pretty good, but I'd suggest taking your photos against a piece of paper instead of holding them up.

I'd suggest painting the wolf coat in a similar but slightly lighter tan colour to his wolf tail talisman. Then you can paint the crux in a bone shade and the three colours with lend a harmonious yellow-brown warmth to the cool blues.

So this guy is like 99% done. All I need to do is the stuff on his back (chain around the wolf) and he is done. May try and do some freehand on his shoulder pad. Not sure if I have the balls or not though...

Yeah, not bad for around 10-15 hours work. Just waiting on my battleforce from wayland which I ordered 2 weeks ago now...

C & C is always sought. Sorry for the darklight, but I'm a nerd. And I tend to shun the outside...

very well done!!! I love what you did on the grimnar model! I would like to echo the advice of taking your picture with a white piece of paper as a backdrop. It makes your model more easily seen, as your eye is not trying to pick up all the back ground "noise" from your floor or painting table
