He was within grabbing distance of the grunt, and prepared to strike.
"Only this and nothing more,"
He leaped forward, catching the grunt from behind, and tearing off it's methane mask. It struggled to call out to its ally, but Kenny held it down, silencing it. He muttered down close to its face, "Only this, and nothing more"

The harsh crack that came from the weapon was like the end of the world for the poor grunts who started screaming and running around, preventing the elite from figureing out where the shot had come from. One of his jackels was down and a coupl of seconds later the elite heard anouther shot, he spun around to see anouther jackel downed. He turned once more to see his last needlerifle carrier take a bullet through the side of his powered shield and go straight through the jackel's skull, splattering purplish blood over the rocks. The elite looked up and brought his weapon to bear but it was too late.

Icewolf had taken the three shots then stowed his Dmr and pulled out his assault rifle and combat blade, then jumped. He fell a good 20 metres before twisiting slightly in midair and ripping of a burswt of assault rifle rounds that ate thier way across the elites face. Icewolf landed heavily and felt the rocks cracking beneath him as he came out of his crouch and sped forwards activating his armour's sprint function. He felt the armour take over pistoning his legs allowing him to concentrate on the elite holwing in outrage. His arm came up to try and ward a blow from the spartan but Icewolf had gone low his combat blade slipping underneath the elites guard and puncturing internal organs. Icewolf wrenched the weapon free and kicked the elite hard in the chest which sent the alien sprawling. Icewolf leapt forwards and fired a controlled burst through the elite's eye socket killing the covenant.

A hale of plasma pistol plinked across Icewolf's shield and he heard his suit's semi pleasant woman's voice saying.
"Shields low, take cover Terrence"
Icewolf ignored the voice and spun into a crouch, avoiding a second volley as he sheathed his combat blade bringing his assault rifle up to his shoulder and emptying the clip into the five remaining grunts. He ejected the clip with a sharp gesture and hammered nouther home in time to see a stream of needles flying towards him. Icewolf heard his suits now sarcastic voice again
"I supose you want those to hit you as well?"\
He grunted and dived out of the way rolling to come up behind a rock. He heard the needles sinister detonations against it. He rose from his cround and leapt ove rthe rock, annihilating two of the jackels midflight with a short burst, then dropping the assault rifle and allowing it to hang on its grav harness as he lands, pulling the combat blade from its chest sheath and stabbing it straight through the center of the last jackel's power shield and through its chest. The Jackel fell with a gurgle and Icewolf straightened thumbing his radio.
"Targets down. Next objective?"
The voice that came through the radio was a gruff masculine voice that belonged to Icewolf's seargeant
"Sir anouther spartan landed about 2 klicks north of your position and has holed up in a sniper's nest. Make contact Sir. There is a strong covenant strike force moving on foot through the area and the two of you could deal with them as a team better than solo. Guvvy out."
"Thankyou seargeant, commenceing radio silence."

Icewolf took the plasma grenades fro the corpses snapping them to his belt hooks and reloaded his DMR and AR. Then started to move off in the direction of the settlement. He could make the distance in about 20 minutes on flat ground, here it could take half an hour. His trip was uneventful and felt long as he allowed his suit to do the running for him. Occaisionally taking control to correct his route. A couple of times he had to scale cliff faces to get out of the canyon. Once out however he quickly spotted the colony where the sniper would be. And began to make his way towards it.

Kenny made his way to the post office outside the alley, and up the marble steps. The door swung open silently on its hinges, and he peered inside. The lights were out, and the sun stretched his shadow into the building. His footsteps on the cold, clean floor rang out like gunshots, and Kenny flinched with each step. He hauled himself over the counter, and wandered aimlessly in the back, picking up and discarding pieces of mail that would never be delivered. Finally, Kenny rolled into a hamper half filled with letters and packages. Icewolf sends a pict of the two ghosts and thier coordinates.

He recieves one pinning the Rendevous point on his hud and he begins moving through the darkness. The ghosts move on as he moves through the darkness and do not bother him. Icewolf stays low to the ground and in the shadow's as he moves through the city to the Rendevous. He avoids conflict as much as possible not wanting to raise an alarm of his prescence, but is forced to make several tactical takedowns with his DMR. He moffles the shots in allies where the sound will not carry and moves on. Eventually he reaches the rendevous and with his tactical display notices the camoflauged sniper.
He unseals his helmet taking it off to show short cropped dark briwn hair and startling blue eyes, his face is tall and gaunt, drawn as if through hunger or hardship, but his blue eyes are very much alive and as he talks in the darkness his voice is steady.

They take backroutes and allies to get to the oni building. When they get there Terrence switches to his AR but lets the sniper take point.

5 minutes later Revre reports back and is holding a large weapon. "The covenant have new tech. This plasma weapon shoots fasterthan the rifles and the plasma is higher-yield. One of these things could give us a run for our money. We need to be careful. Other than that we are clear to withing a klick of ONI; that is where the real fun will be." Icewolf looks up at the imposing structure and grimaces, it felt like a trap. But he had to get into that building so he unlatched one of the plasma grenades from his belt and held it loosely in one hand, his AR in the other.
"I will take point Falcon. The locker number was 1774 wasnt it?"
The sniper nods
"Good then lets start moving. Set the plasma grenade up on a trip wire, we downt want anything following us in."

Terrence makes a few steps into the building and then waits as the sniper follows him and sets up the trip wire trap. Then the two start moving into the building. Icwolfcan hear the flitting of something small and winged, but he cant see it. Then all of a sudden as they come out into the main foyer a hail of plasma shots rip through the darkened building from the roof area and the Spartans dive into cover. Terrence switching to night vision only to see a large swarm of flying covenant hailing the room with plasma shots.
"Falcon make a move for the elevator, this is was a trap. Stay calm these thigns dont seem to be able to see well int he dark. Only fire as a last resort."

The two spartans make thier way cautiously from cover to cover as the plasma shots still hail around the foyer. Icewolf's suit making course suggestions in its female tones. Eventually they make the elevator but the moment Terrence touches the call button the swarm turns towards him.
"Oh for the love of earth. A crack saw the head of the Elite Pete was fighting explode in a shower of purple gore, he looked down the corridor to see a Spartan sniping downrange. He was never happier to see a Spartan... wait two Spartans, he noted a long combat blade protruding from the neck of the elite at the back of the corridor, anouther elite fell to the marines and Pete concentrated on the remainders.

Icewolf had moved down the corridor in a quick burst of speed, his Combat blade already out and moving. It had pierced the elite's neck before it realised what was happening. A quick burst of AR fire shredded anouther elite's back. The ODST trooper took down anouther and the marines managed to take down the last two. Icewolf stepped forwards taking off his helmet.
"This is Colonel Blackwood designation Icewolf. good to see you ODST, marines good work. Falcon and I just reached the building, theres a swarm below us in the foyer. Alarm klaxxons broke out, and the equipment room was suddenly bathed in red light. The Covenant were already at Reach.
"MOVE, HELLJUMPERS!" the Staff Sergeant barked. "GET YOUR ASSES IN GEAR! EMERGENCY DROP!" Mercifully, Mikhail had just finished suiting up for the drop, and had only to grab his DMR and sprint to his pod station. The hull shook two more times. He could faintly hear secondary explosions detonating elsewhere. The aliens were beginning to fire on the transport, hoping to blast it from orbit before delivering its payload. The drop-troopers would have to evacuate fast before turning into more star dust.
Mikhail barely fastened his safety harness in place before the drop pod closed its hatch. But there is no cause for loss of friendly life and your amrines arnt so durable. Regardless our objective is a weapons locker furthur up the building, we will go with you and assist. There are still civilians around. We need to get them to safety, so after this we will head out in the Falcons that are usually in the hangar's of the ONI buildings and make a dash from there. There are strong prescences of anti personnel light vehicles moving through the streets. The Falcons should take care of them." Icewolf notices the sniper coming back

Green light. Suddenly the doors opened and the Jackals began to drop down onto the street. Bane leapt out with a loud battle roar and began to charge the marines barricade, and with a massive leap, hurtled over the make shift wall. He hit the ground with a thud, and before the Marines could react he lunged towards one and sent his energy sword through his skull, and ripped upwards, turning the mans head into mush. Needle fire tore into a few men as they began to try to hit the massive alien, but Bane was quick, and hit cover. After de-activating his sword he pulled out his plasma rifle, but before he could the force was down, due to massive and accurate Jackal fire. He walked out into the street and kicked one of the bodies that was on his stomach, once he rolled over he plucked a grenade from him. Bane orderd the jackals do the same. Bane repeated the process until he had 3 frag grenades, and tested one out. Chunking the grenade through a window to tests its weight and time until explosion. Now bane had 4 plasma grenades and 2 frags, but he was not done. He stripped the marines rifles of all ammo and proceeded to empty the clips onto the ground.

After a short walk they could see the omni building. "Zealot team, copy, zealot team do you read?" Bane said into the mic, he needed the zealot team with him when they moved through the building. He saw a pair of hunter hulking in the street and brought them into the squad. He was ready to attack the omni building.

Just as he finished his words, marines began firing, and an ODST dropped on an elite with his knife.
With a enormous sound, the door to the control room exploded, the Hunter pair leaping out of it.

Bane yelled as he ran up to the door. He broke through the glass and saw a group of marines DMRs and assault rifles. He mode a barell roll to the left and landed behind a desk, but the combined fire ripped his shield to gak. THe jackals rushed in a suppressed the marines, but 2 more riflemen died, leaving bane with 9. He let his shield recharge a little bit and hopped up with his plasma rifle ready and a frag grenade in his other hand, and tossed it over the room.
" Grenade watc-" Then the explosion and silence. The silence lasted for about a second or two before Bane blew them away with his plasma rifle.
"Up the stairs! Get to the armory!" Bane shouted kicking down the maintenance door to the stairs. He saw two men at the top of the stairs before they realized they need to shoot, the first was run through with Banes sword, bane grabbed the other by the neck and threw him down the stairs. He continued up until the armory door, in which he began to cut through the lock with his sword. He heard movement inside and a man shouting out orders.
"Get your grenades ready, as soon as these doors open" He grunted has he cut through the thick lock " throw them in, then unload your clips into the smoke, when you are done reload and wait until the smoke clears"

Bane could feel the lock break, but waited. "Zealot team, respond!" He shouted into the mic, "Zealot team!" He needed them to help launch the assault, and be shock troopers. "I need a spec ops team to drop onto the ONI building NOW"

"Roger that,3 43rd Company spec op troopers launching now, time of arrival 30 seconds, team aimed at ONI buildings roofs. "

Icewolf bursts through the wall next t the hunter having come along a parrallel corridor and leaps onto its back. He brings his AR to bear and fires a heavy stream of shots straight into its head armour. Then dropping the AR into his grav harness he stabs down with his Combat blade enlarging the hole made by the bullets. The Hunter is screaming and bucking trying to throw the Spartan off but Icwolf has a firm grip with his thighs and the creature cant throw him and deal with the incoming fire from the marines. ICewolf finishes with the knife, stows it and then pushes his last plasma grenade into the hole and activates it leaping clear. The hunter explodes messily and Icewolf ducks behind cover, slamming anouther clip into his AR
"Marines move forwards, ODST cover them, Falcon see if you can get a bead on those elites.

Hale points into the large open room ahead of them and down at the pack of elites moving towards him.
"ODST grenade into the middleground on my mark.... three, two one, mark!"
The ODST throws the grenade and it explodes throwing the elites backwards and draining their shields whicha re then picked off by Falcon the marines spread out and annihilate the Jackel's while Icewolf coordinates thier movements and provides supporting fire with his AR. Then he heard the lock break on the room behind them. They had neatralised the targhet's in the open room so Icewolf made a snap descision.
"Marines throw grenades at the door, all of your grenades in two volleys on my mark. ODST get into cover, Marines drop back once grenades thrown. Falcon get into supportive fire position, something big is coming."
Icewolf dropped back to the first line of cover in the room and brought his DMR to bear.
"MARK!"

Sweat began to trail down his shaved forehead. He was focusing on his heartbeat, trying to steady his breathing, all the while watching as the massive starships jockeyed for positions and blasted each other into oblivion.
A warning signal appeared on the side, indicating the pod entering the atmosphere. He could faintly see flames licking up from the bottom, hungry to consume the entire vehicle. He knew he would be relatively safe until he finally hit the ground. Then, the real danger would start.
After a harrowing ten minutes, the flames died down, and he could see the blue of Reach's atmosphere, though it was tainted by billowing smoke from below. Then, the pod's rockets kicked in, slowing the craft's descent. This was it. His first taste of combat, and his chance to avenge the death of his father. Mikhail fumbled with his restraints to unfasten them, when he felt the pod come to a sudden bone-shaking halt.

Conrad skulked through the empty alleyways of the settlement. Things were heating up fast. Covenant dropships were going somewhere. Wherever they were going, it sounded like on helluva fight.

He checked the scope on his DMR and cradled it like a baby as he did a quick field check on the weapon.

Conrad wished his squad wasent dead, they were some of the closest friends he ever had... He had been with them ever since Paris Island and Reach was starting to feel like a lonley place... He tryed to keep his mind clear. "Ive got to get to those allies." He murmured trying to keep himself focused.

It wasent long before he was there. The place was crawling with Covies and he was having trouble staying unoticed. He found a building over looking the ONI building. A great vantage point. He slinked silently into the building and set up his rifle.

CRACK! A grunt dropped, its life extinguished by the DMRs round. CRACK! Another one dead. CRACK! and another... "Copy that" He heard, he made sure all of his men were ready when he heard "Windows found sir, but they are thick safety glass, we would have to blow off the area around the windows, sir" Bane didn't respond for a few seconds.
"Then do it".
The elites took about a minute placing plasma grenades in various places, while the humans sat watching the door. "Sir, be careful the humans have aimed at the door and have grenades ready"
Bane thought about this for a second before the walked back from the door. "Change that, I don't care if you don't kil lany distract them, blow those windows and throw in an grenades and fire all you have"
"Understood sir"
" Good luck"
The shatter of glass and an explosion could be heard through the door. None of the men inside died, but most turned around. " All troops, move up the stairs, get away from the door, get up the stairs" The jackals shuffled up the stairs and eyed Bane weirdly. He grabbed his plasma rifle and ready a grenade. His muscular leg slammed int othe door and he threw the grenade inside, along with a spray of plasma fire. As soon as the grenade made contact he jumped away, small arms fire flickered off his shield and armor, but did little.
"Grenades!" He heard an strong voice shout. Grenades rolled into the hallway, and Bane ran up the stairs, but he was a second too late, his shields were shattered and shrapnel covered him, but this did little more than anger him. The jackals ran forward and loosed fire into the room as Bane tried to stand up. Conrad realized he was going to get found soon. he needed to figure out a way to lay down some more hurt soon the enemy.

Conrad turned on his radio. "To any friendly air units in the area, Im requesting close air support at this area." Conrad said his coirdinates and repeated the message several times.

"This is Falcon, Callsign Dirty Bird. I read you loud and clear. I can provide fire support."

"Be advised the targert area is crawling with covenant."

"Yeah." the pilot crackled over the radio, "What else is new. Inbound now."

Conrad turned off the radio and sighed in relief. He stepped away from the window, leaned against the wall, and took a drink from his canteen. The ODST looked to where Terrence was indicating and saw the heavily covered walkway. He nodded briefly then reloaded. Terrence slamme anouther clip into his AR and drew his combat blade, nodded once, and then vaulted over the cover, annihilting a grunt with a controlled burst. He felt rather than saw the plasma rounds flickering past him as he flew through the air, then he was among them, firing bursts of controlled fire into the grunts and disabling the jackal's shields. His combat blade mopped up the remainders. As he moved inexorably closer to the elite. Then he was in combat with it, firing a controlled burst to empty his clip at its middrif before charging in. Hs sprnt function activating and crossing the distance faster than the elite expected. Then he hears the falcon. The twin roar of the rotor blades cuts through the air and missles flood the sky downing the enemy reinforcements, Icewolf uses this distraction to kick his opponent in the knee and slip his knife up to the elites neck. But a missle blast throws him clear and the Marines turn on the elite firing in powerful volleys. The Hell-Jumper quickly moved from building to burned-out building, carefully sweeping his weapon for any signs of enemy contact. So far, the part of the city he had landed in was a ghost town. The actual battle was still a few klicks away, where he could make out the tell-tale signs of projectile and energy-based weapons.
He didn't dare call out to any teammates on his radio, lest any Covenant troops be listening. He would have to search by sight only.

The elite had the upper hand and athey were giving no quarter. As Conrad looked feverishley through his scope, he spotted a wounded elite execute a marine without mercy.

Conrad had had enough.

He slammed down his pack and pulled out his modified Assault rifle. He had made it himself in Advanced Infatry Training. It had a special sight, a 100 round beta mag, and it fired bigger rounds. He slammed the clip into the hefty rifle and yanked back the action. He stuffed his DMR into his pack and shouldered it. Then, yelling in rage vaulted over his cover and opened up on the elite. "Get some!"

He grabbed and extra plasma rifle off of the wall and ordered the pilot to turn around and go back to the ONI building. The phantom opened its doors and Bane began to fire shots at the humans, he noticed that the Zealot was wounded, but didn't take any action. He singed a marine who got courageous and ran up with a grenade. The grenade fell to the ground, but didn't explode, to the luck of his allies. Bane dropped the plasma rifles and quickly grabbed the nearby plasma turret.
Bane slew the humans like grass, but the spartans still stood, the one with the modified AR still shot at the Zealot from cover. Bane yelled out to Syrath " I can save you, but only if you get off your ass and move!" The two elites were the only covenent left in the room and area around it, but Bane saw the last phantom sliding smoothly through the air.
" Phantom E6 preparing to drop troops"
"Fire your concussion cannon into the room, we have a pinned Zealot who needs assistance" Bane told the phantom "AS it cools down open the side door and lay down fire on the Humans, I and the zealot will be falling back to the base."

Conrad saw the purple projectile arc towards him. It seemed like everything was going in slow motion. He watched dazed as it flew and landed square in the center of his shoulder just below his arm joint. Everything began to speed up. Conrad then came back to reality. These things explode.

"OH SH-" The needle exploded into a thousand tiny peices. The small explosion made his ear ring and his legs gave out. Tiny shards of shrapnel tore though the right side of his face, leaving deep and horrific gouges, narrowly missing his eyes.

Conrad didnt feel anything. He knew that meant it was bad. He look over at his arm. The green drab was now stained a dark red from all the blood. What once was his shoulder joint was now just a ragged piece of meat and a chunk of flesh attached to his body... "Oh god... Oh god.." He repeated this over and over again.

"We need a medic over here!" Conrad noticed a Spartan standing over him. An angel clothed in power armor in his eyes. A medic came sprinting over to Conrad and looked down at him. "Jesus Christ..." "Dont just stand there!" The spartan barked "Do your job!" "Yessir!"

The medic kneeled down to him. "Let me see your dog tags." Conrad tryed to move his dominate arm but then remebered it was gone. he showed the doc his dog tags. "Ah. Youre special." The medic began to inject Conrad's wound full of foam. "Youre not out of the fight yet. Hang in there." The medic shot him up full of morphine and quickly severed the usless bits of flesh that was Conrads arm.

Before he knew it Conrad was on a falcon, headed to a hospital. "Dont worry." A marine riding in the falcon said to him. "Youre gonna love your new arm." Conrad hoped so. He watched as they ascended. the fight was probably winding down by now. But he knew that Elite wasent dead. "Youre mine..." Conrad said under his breath. You can't just order entire armies around, Generals lead small forces, and Elites would never work with Brutes, Brute Hounor Guard haven't been commissioned yet, and being picked by one of the three Prothets personally would make you the supreme god dam commander of the Covenant. They don't work like humans. And have strict codes of hnonor.

The Pelican pilot moved in towards the ONI building with grace. Ten minutes earlier he had sent the signal telling all friendly troops to get to the pickup point.

As he went in to land on the roof he saw that UNSC forces had gotten the signal. And apparently so had the covenant. They were hightailing it as well.

He opened the rear doors. "Alright ladies, lets move it!" Several dead Marines were carted onto the Pelican. Several ODSTs and Spartans stepped on as well. "Well hot damn, we got Spartans on board!" The pilot called back enthusiastically. The pelican lifted off towards the nearest UNSC camp, were Conrad was now undergoing surgery in.

Icewolf grunted prying his arm from the half blackened wall of the building opposite the Oni building. He was a couple of hundred metres up and covenant ships were crawling all over the area. He had been hit by a missle and his heated suit had melted its way halfway into the building. He looked down. Not a nice drop. He jumped anyway.

The falcon flew beneath him and he landed on the gun deack calmly, just like stepping off a ramp. He tapped his mike
"Seargeant you there?"
"Yes colonel, right here"
"Put an objective marker on all unsc forces huds. 300 metres south of my position in the old complex. Have a top priority message sent through requesting a rally and regroup."

As the young ODST pressed the button the ONI building exploded into a massive orange red explosing, like some sort of catastrophically violent form of plant. "All UNSC focres accounted for." The flying convoy pushed on towards the fire base.

On the way back one of the Falcons managed to pry out some shaky civilian from a post office. He refused to speak anything but strange rhymes.

Conrad was suprised at how fast they had managed to put on his prosthetic arm. He sat in a tent admiring the sawbones handiwork. He saw that all the UNSC forces had gotten back mostly intact. We had drove them back... For now.

Conrad looked over at the stand next to his cot. He saw a slip of paper labeled "ORDERS" in big red letters. He read over the slip of paper and sighed. Great. Instead of being moved to another squad of Marines he was going to fill in as a replacement for a dead hell jumper. Conrad had been trained to drop down in a drop pod and maintain the armor ODSTs used. But he knew that the ODST sqaud wasent going to be happy with his arrival. Oh well...

He loaded a holographic map of the planet, along with a street map alongside. he pointed first to the street map.
"This is the ONI headquaters building, which one of our esteemed ODST boys just blew to hell. We have lost the weapons locker there, which is a setback, but the upside is that with the destruction of the building the archives were decimated. We are now here" He points to a different spot on the map "About half a klick from the old ONI building, we have enough food to last about three days, we need more. But that isnt our real problem"
He glances at his watch briefly before carrying on.
"As of 1350 this afternoon UNSC forces were engaged by and pushed back a general class, and zealot class elites, with their respective armed covenant forces. The presence of a Zealot class elite means only one thing, something on Reach has the covenant interested, it also means that they will do anything in thier power to conquer Reach. The destruction of ONI Headquaters is a boon, it means that whatever the Zealot was looking for has just been reduced to so much ash and rubble. Score one for humanity. We have slowed him down.

The bad news to all this is that with the presence of the covenant on Reach and the destruction of ONI headquaters on the planet. The winter contingency has been recognised. This means that in less than seven days this planet will be covered by either the covenant or a neuclear dustcloud. I dont think i need to tell you just how much of a problem this is gonna be for us. We are cut off from any drydocks and our forces are scattered. We are a low on ammunition, supplies and medical reserves. Pretty soon moral is gonna start to drop. My body might be able to go on until I take a covenant weapon to the head, but yours will start to weaken unless we can get ourselves ready for the trip to the ONI support headquaters here." He points to anouther settlement on the world map, on the other side of the continent "That headquaters is the only settlement with an drydock large enough and well defended enough to get us off Reach in the current circumstances, it happens to also be the only other place that the covenant can find the full ONI archives, whcih means that they are going to be following us all the way. The UNSC forces surrounding the planet are capable of getting us offworld if we can get there. That means that in seven days we are going to have to get from the middle of New Alexandria, to the coast on the other side of the main continent here on Reach. And if that wasnt hard enough we have the covenant to deal with. And a Spartan MIA. As of right now" He checks his watch again "We have one hundred and forty nine hours and twenty seven minues to travel eight hundred kilometres under fire."

He shuts the maps down and plants his hands on the table infront of him looking at the three dozen or so men and women in the room.
"I wont lie to you all. Not all of you are going to make it out of here alive. Some of you wont get back to your homeworlds, some of you will die here on Reach on your homeworld. But I can promise you that until that Zealot jams his sword through my gut, or I get hit by a covenant corvette energy beam, there is no way in hell that I'm going to let these... aliens, kill you for thier own sick pleasure. This place is gonna have to be our haven for a dy while we get ready, then we have to move."

He turned the street map back on
"I need the ODST troopers to split the Marines into appropriatly sized groups and lead them in four groups , Alpha group will be in charge of locating all the remaining ordanance within a klick of this building and claiming it in the name of Earth." Icewolf points to the ODST who engaged the Zealot and lost his arm "You will command that group, he points to the ODST who he met in the tower "You have Beta group, your goal is to stop the covenant finding out we are here, take the sniper weapons and active camoflauge and stop them in their tracks." He points to the recently arrived ODST squad leader "I need you here with Gamma group holding down the fort and prepping our supplies for travel. If anything breaks through the comms net and the snipers I need you to have it dealt with. I will take Theta group personally to launch a recovery mission for our missing Spartan."

He shuts the maps off and turns around

Before they headed out, conrad tested out his new arm. He had sharpened the fingers, bringing them all to serrated points. The next time he saw that elite he would leave his mark.

Conrad was remembering back to his speacial Marine training, as he and the ODSTs slunk through the abandoned ruins. They were all draped in hot, stuffy, red and grey urban cammoflauge. He had everyone roll in the dirt so that they would blend in with the dreary enviorment. He remembered how his instructor beat the idea of good cammo into their thick, weary skulls. "Never doubt the usefullness of good cammo." His DI's voice echoed in his head. "How can the covies shoot what they cant see?"

"Nothing in here sir." And ODST said. "Just more dead civies... Damn." "Dont lose focus." Conrad knew what he was thinking. "Find some ammo and we'll have plenty of power to get back at them."

Conrad found a strange looking building he readied his Assault-Machine gun and walked over to the chained garage door that made up over half of the building. He put his gun in his left hand and snapped the chain like twigs with his robotic arm and then lifted up the door. He peered into the dark garage. He was amazed at what he saw. Guns. Guns and ammo everywhere. All kinds of weapons lined the walls. Some of them were military issue. Others were ancient models. He picked up an strange rifile that was sitting on top of an ammo crate. He remembered his childhood friend having one of these. It was an AK-47. Old but reliable. The top wassent even the half of it. There was a basement that was filled to the brim with ammo. He had found a now abandoned rebel HQ.

He eagerly radioed in his discovery and called over his troops. Everyone was stuffing there packs with ammo and guns. Some were taking old models as trophies. Conrad took the AK-47. "Alright. Take five." Everyone had sat down and was now eating or drinking from their canteen.

Conrad heard something... It sounded like an insect of some sort... It was getting louder though... Then it dawned on him. "A covvie drop ship!" He put away his canteen and reached for his Assault Gun. "Everybody dig in. Let HQ know about our situation. We CANT let the covvies take this building!" An ODST grabbed a rocket launcher. Conrad peered out of the garage just in time to see a group of elites drop out of the grav chute. "ooh rah." He slammed a fresh clip into his weapon.

The elite continued to taunt him. He couldent be alone There were obviously more that were camoflauged. Conrad had predicted this. He had set up a perimeter of claymores on predicted flanking routes to compensate for this. Only a matter of time, Conrad thought.

BOOM! Off to the Marine's right a claymore exploded,sending 500 metal flechettes into the elite. His cammo malfunctioned as they ripped through his flesh and armor. (Fighting an elite with a knife AND a robot arm. Whos epic now? xD)

The elite was nearly on him now. Conrad looked him in the eye. He saw that he was armed with an energy sword but stood his ground. The Elite took the first swing. Conrad ducked under it, but it had anticipated this and kneed Conrad in the chest knocking him to the ground. He rolled out of the way just in time to avoid being disemboweled by the sword. Conrad jumped up in one smooth motion to the right of the elite and gave it a solid punch with his prosthetic. The elite took the blow and it broke its shields, but didnt reel back and replyed with his own right hook. Conrad ducked under it and then swept his right arm up in a slashing motion. It just missed its skull but it slashed across its face, sending a spray of bright purple blood in a neat arc flying through the air.

Conrad was about to finish off the alien until he heard a thundering noise behind him. He turned and saw a pelican pull over the warehouse, firing its auto cannon. The concussion cannon blew part of the pelicans gun off, but it didn't stop it. A bold move and the pelican pilot started firing at the phantom, and let the ground troops advance. Bane stood with the Jackals as they slowly advanced and fired at the building, meanwhile the grunts ran ahead, only to be mowed down as the humans realized it was a double sided assault.

Conrad knew the decision he was about to make was going to anger his new subordinates. But this was bigger than a squad of men. "No. Get a full load of ammo and weapons. We'll find our own way out of this mess." "Are you insane!?" "What the hell!?" Scared and angry voices screamed over the radio. "I said we'll find our own way out of this. Turn on that shield generator and look for a vehicle."

The group of six had now fallen back to the garage as the Pelican blasted off into the distance. An ODST had just finished filling a civilian vehicle up with fuel. The vehicle had been modified prior with armor plating. "Check those charges." The inside of the building was plastered with plastic explosives. The soldiers jumped into the vehicle. Conrad jumped into the back and fed a fresh clip into his assault gun. "Gun it!" The vehicle took of into a hellstorm of plasma fire. There were moments when they all thought they were going to die, but they made it through. "Drive back to the camp." The explosion of the building created a shockwave that knocked Icewolf, was was three blocks away, bodily into a building across the street, most of his marines were killed by the blast. He hated to think how powerful the explosion would have been up close. Nearby a building collapsed that was beside the one that blew. Icewolf had no idea how the building was destoryed, but anything there would have been wiped out. He prayed there were no UNSC personell in the blast, he took a moment to mourn the fallen marines. They all ended up dying, a car had detonated nearby and killed the survivors, it was Icewolf on his own now. He staggerd to his feet and chcked his weapons, Loaded and ready, he took the ammunition that he could carry from the 5 dead marines and took a pistol as well, He stocked his belt with a full five grenades, and two plasma's that he had picked up before hand. Bane climbed to the top of a slightly destroyed building and grabbed his needle rifle, he made a small camp, his stuff all within reaching distance, and his sword at his belt. He had about 7 plasma grenade, 4 at his belt, the others sitting near his feet. He scanned the area when he saw two ODST troopers moving about, one limping, and searching the area. He slapped in a clip of needles and aimed at the firsts head.

"Sam do you know what the feth that was?"
"Nope, you?"
"Not a damn idea, let's just find some survivors"
"Whatever that was, I have a feeling it wasn't good"
"it felt like an ex-" Jack was cut off as a needle round tore through his skull. Sam let out a startled yell and dove for cover, but two rounds hit home in his shoulder, and one in his stomach. The needles shattered in the wound and Sam dropped his DMR and cringed in pain, but he pulled out a magnum and stood up to fire a round in warning to others, but his hand was torn to pieces by a round, and then a round hit him between the eyes, ending him instantly.

" I love killing those fool" Bane muttered to himself "always trying to be heroes" Bane continued to scan the streets, and off to another one he saw a warthog full of Marines. He was glad he had brought a fuel rod gun. Ban leaned the rifle against the roof tops wall and grabbed the large weapon. He aimed the golden fue lrod gun and let two round fly, slamming into the wart hog like bolts from the heavens. Bane continued to scan when he saw a spartan moving through a building. The one he had fought a the ONI building. He took a breath and let a few needles fly, the 3 or so needles hit the spartan, but the others missed. The young Marine could only feel regret for what he had done. He knew that he had taken out plenty of covvies but he also knew he had killed fellow marines. Eagle swept through the building amd punched through 2 walls and appeared in the next one, coming face-to-face with an elite. The Elite raised his plasma repeater and shouted at the Spartan. Eagle pulled his knife and pistol and rushed he eilte in the blink of an eye. The Elite kicked he spartan and he tripped but rolled back up gracefully. Eagle put two shots into the elite's head. The shield sparkled and Eagle delievered a solid punch into it's face. One of the beast's jaws broke and blood squirted from it's mouth. Eagle dropped low and cut the hamstring of he Elite and it fell straight to the ground in agony. Eagle jumped on it's back and sent the knife into a soft spot in it's neck. The Elite shrieked and died and the other Elite ran in the door of the building.

The Elite pulled out an energy sword and seemed to smile. Eagle lifted himself to his feet slowly and prepared for the coming fight. The Elite chaged at Eagle and he dove to the side and popped up firing his pistol at he Elite's back. Rounds pinged off the shield helplessly and the Elite turned around. Eagle flung his pistol at him and charged catching he Elite's sword arm with his left and pulling the plasma pistol with his right. Eagle held he firing rune until there was a deep green glow coming from the edge of the pistol. Bane had picked a good spot for a snipers nest, and had killed 6 more humans with his rifle, but he needed reinforcements, and his head set and been shattered by the blast. Grabbing all of his gear he moved down the building, but not before a 10 man squad of Marines, militia like almost, turned the corner. He could see some of them shaking, and the looked broken. He puleld his sword hilt and a grenade out, but waited until they were passing the broken building, not knowing that Bane was hiding in the shadows.
"Dave, go check that building"

Yes sir" The poor man walked into the building unknowing of his doom. Holding a simple SMG, not even at ready level he walked in. The rest of the squad turned their backs on the building. "Any survivors in here? I am with the UNSC marines, is there any body in here? Any body alive?" With that he stepped into grabbing range of Bane, whom the shadows had concealed.

Bane had tucked his sword into his belt, and grabbed the man by the neck, his giant fingers crushing his wind pipe as Bane lifted the man up. Just before he through the poor soul out of the window into his squad he stuck a present to the man. The blue light and explosion hid the sound of banes energy sword flickering to life as Bane jumped into the confused squad. 3 had caught the man, only to be blown to dust. 4 down. One marine didn't even have time to raise his rifle before the massive elite chopped him from collar bone to hip. 5 down. The next victim had fired his rifle, but did not hit the nimble elite, the last thing he felt was an energy sword ripping into his stomach, and exiting upwards through his rib cage. 6 down.

The other four had begun to shoot at, and a few shots hit Bane, but his shield was not broken. Bane lunged at one man and sliced at both of his thighs, cutting each femoral to pieces. Bane shot to the next man like lighting, sending the sword through his heart, then using him as a bullet shield. 8 down. Number 9 pulled out a grenade, but Bane wouldn't let the man die a martyrs death, and gave him the same treat meant as number 5. The last man was sprinting away from the blood bath, but Bane found that unacceptable. He put a few needle rounds in the mans legs, and walked over. The man was praying for mercy, saying he had a kid. If the covenants progress kept up, than he wouldn't have one for long. Bane went for a simple round to the head.

Jackpot. Bane had found a radio on one of the soldiers and began to get onto the covenant frequency. Upon sifting through some of the rubble he realised that most of the covenant had been wiped out. Icewolf heard a strangled moan and shoved a boulder of rubble aside to see a mostly shattered marine, who was only alive though sheer stubbornness.
"How did this happen trooper?"
The marine tries to focus on Icewolf but struggles, eventually reaching out what is left of his onyl remaining arm to touch Icewolf's helmet, as if checking to see he was real.
"I'm sorry colonel sir... Conrad blew the building cough... cough" Blood misted on the marine's visor "The covies took the blast though, serves them right. Conrad left east..."
Icewolf saw the man's eyes glas over and took the man's helmet off, closing them gently. He stood up with his DMR held loosely by his side,
"This is Colonel Blackwood, calling Petty officer Conrad. You are immediatly recalled to homebase under charges of suspect..." Icewolf stopped as the radio was blasted out of his hand by a needle round. He sun around to see an elite rapidly descending through the rubble Needle rifle in one hand energy sword in the other, it was the general from the ONI building.

Icewolf spun around and brought up his DMR taking several shots at the Elite, several sparked off the elite's shield but one managed to stagger the general with a shoulder blow. The elite's shield was clearly suffering from the after effects of the blast, with Icewolf's armour weakness it meant that the fight would be somewhat even. The DMR clicked dry and Icewolf dropepd it into his grav harness drawing his combat blade and pistol. Icewolf was almost upon him now, and bane took the chance to let two more rounds fly. He popped out the spent clip and dropped the weapon. He ripped the sword from his belt and lunged at the man, but the spartan ducked, and fired a shot into Banes stomach, but his shield held. Bane slashed at him again, but the man was quicker than he expected. Channeling all of his hate, Bane kicked the man in the chest, sending the man 10 feet back, but the spartan stood up and was on his own offencive. The knife moved quickly, but Bane targeted the knife, knowing that he could break the spartans weapon.

Icewolfs knife cut into Banes left arm, drawing a trickled of purple blood, but Bane wielded his sword in his right. The elite had snuck up on the patrol. Conrad was ripped from the car and thrown to the ground. In dazed confusion he watched one of his Marines getted ripped to shreds by the Elites sword. "This is Colonel Blackwood, calling Petty officer Conrad. You are immediatly recalled to homebase under charges of suspect..." Icewolfs voice cut off over the radio as Conrad lay on the ground.

The Marine didnt have time to think about the world of **** he was about to be in. He stood up to face the persistent Elite. He could see he had done a number on him. Along with the horrific scars to match Conrad's the elites face had suffered major burns. Conrad looked around for his Assault Gun but it was too far off for him to go for. For a moment the two rivals just stood there, looking each other in the eye. Conrad lay on the ground beaten to a pulp and looking up in dazed amazement at the spectacle. A civvie was taking on a Sangheli warrior with nothing but a chunk of concrete. He was losing though. The Elite was about to smoke the crazy bugger.

Conrad couldent tell if it was strength, adrenaline, or stuborness that allowed him to get up. Maybe it was a bit of all three. "Hey ugly!" The elite turned towards him. "Pick on someone who can defend themselves huh?" The elite laughed manically and took a step forward.

Conrad prayed for the first time in his life. Dear god, if there is one, please save me.

The elites shields held but he was knocked off his feet from the concussive force of the point blank shot. Blackwood leapt forwards intending to finish the fight, but a foot caught him in midair. The eilte had kicked up at him and Icewolf felt himself sprawing on the tarmac. He rolled to the side instinctivley and felt the armour on his left shoulder heat up as the energy sword embedded into the ground not half an inch from it. Blackwood lashed out with his foot kicking the hand clutching the sword and the Elite felt back howling in outrage. Blackwoodwent to tear the energy swor dout of the ground but he felt a massiv impct in his gut and went flying. His hsield had held but only jsut as the Feul rod had struck the ground next to him. He tumbled across the tarmac and groaned coughing into his visor as he stood. The elite had charged forwards but Icewolf planted his blade in the Covenant's gut tearing upwards with a vicous swipe and then kicking the alien off the blade. He tried to follow up with a pistol round but the bleeding general had already smashed the gun out of his hand with a powerful backhand. ICewolf ducked under second swin before trying to slam his weapon down on the elites neck, Kicking the Alien's feet out as he did so. The Elite fell and Icewolf went with him tring to inch his blade closer to the Elites throat as it had caught his arm with a brawny hand.

Icewolf felt the armour on his suit begin to crack as the Elite crushed the servos, Icewolf groped blindly at his belt with his hadn and brought a grenade out, kicing himself sideways and charging the plasma grenade he stuck it to the ground and then rolled the pair so that the Eilite's back was next to the grenade. But they kept rolling and when the grenade went off Icewolf felt himself flying through the air for the second time in so many minutes still locked in the deadly embrace with the elite as the tow umbled arcoss the ground from the force of the explosion. The elite finally lost his grip and the two smashed along the tarmac finally oming toa rest up against the side of the road, some twenty metres from each other. Between them was the energy sword still plunged into the ground. Icewolf stood and tried to drop the knife to free his right hand but the elite had crushed the servo's in his wrist preventing him from flexing his hand. He instead drew his AR as the Elite did the same with his Needle rifle, The two with no shields across from each other. THe elite crippled in the Gut and Icewolf with his hand in a death grip. He shouted across to the Alien.
"It's over coveneant, niether of us have the strength to continue this. We are battered and exhausted. If either one of us shoots both will die. Pulling out a Plasma Grenade, the Zealot lobbed it at the building behind the two and chuckled darkly before cloaking and departing into the shadows as the plasma exploded and causing the building to buckle, he darted away as blue shards of plasma spread throughout the area;

"This is Syrath to Omega Shadow 3, I need pickup immediately, and prepare a Banshee bombing run and move on to the next area, and the next! Burn everything!"

(The Explosion can't kill you, nor am I trying. They took off just as the building collapsed, And several banshees were wiped out by the pelican's heavy chain gun. Conrad woke up in a hospital bed. Where am I? He winced with pain as the his surroundings shook. An orderly stumbled over to the bed. He examined Conrad and shined a light in his eyes. Conrad was thinking about his briefing earlier. Icewolf had told him to go alone. Obviously a punishment for his decision earlier. And Conrad didnt have a problem with that. He was trained for recon. But to his suprise his original team of ODSTs and a few other Marines caught in the blast actually volunteered. No one ever volunteered under normal military circumstances. But then again these were not normal circumstances.

There was a click, and then the high pitched trill of a primed plasma grenade. "Oh sh-" BANG! Conrad was thrown to the ground by the force of the explosion. Conrad quickly checked himself and he seemed uninjured. It started as a murmur "oh god... Oh god. OH GOD MY LEG!" A marine was wriggling in the mud feeling the steaming stump that used to be his leg. Seconds later they were in the air and heading for the last location of Eagle. A massive group of Banshee's swoops down, green fuel rod shot's slamming into a UNSC civilian center with such force that the ground shudders and splits, before swooping down and reaping those who remain with their plasma cannons leaving burnt corpses,pools of fire and charred metal in their wake. Several Phantom's arrive from behind, hatches springing open to bring forth a dozen or so armoured Spec-Ops troops with Plasma Rifles and Energy Sword with Syrath leading them.

"Alright Marines lets move it!" Conrad was running point towards his destination, a burning civ center. He hoped to god that there were survivors. He loaded a heavy clip into his assault gun and pulled back the action with a satisfying crunch of metal.

Before long the squad was walking down a highway littered with abandoned cars, trash, and charred bodies. "Crispy Critters" as some of the marines were calling them. Conrad wasent paying attention and had the privelege to step on one of the black crusty horros.

Suddenly Conrad heard the squeal of a Needle rifle going off. "ARRGH" One of his Marines was hit. His calf was reduced to shredded flesh and muscle. "Get to some cover!" They all dove for a car, bench, trashcan, literally anything that would obscure them. Conrad and another Marine plastered themselves to a car. The shaky Marine swore. "God... Man! We're dead! We're gonna die!" The grown man was literrally bawling as the buildings themselves seemed to open up on them. Conrad grabbed him and yelled at him. "You dont think Im scared? As it was he was moving swiftly through the underbrush of the burnt areas, the few remaining shrubs getting in his way were no more than minor annoyances. It wasn't long before he was insight of the city. The marines would have managed to subdue the Zealot at least. He would be needed to finish it off.

Icewolf woke some minutes later with hsi head propped up against an ammo crate, bulelts whistling around him. The odd plasma flare in the corner of his vision. He slowly got to hsi feet to see a serious firefight in action. THe covenant had withdrawn the zealot and had grouped in mass to push the unsc back. Icewolf saw dozens of grunts and jackels being herded by brutes long the back rows, a couple of ghosts kept the heavy weapons teams pinned down. Icewolf radioed the driver of the Phantom.

Conrad was spewing out lead as his Marines made the retreat. The brutes were creeping up on them and they were taking heavy casualties. Conrad spied a screaming Marine behind a burnt out vehicle his legs were filled with brute spikes and he was going to be overtaken soon. Conrad loaded in a fresh clip and ran out to the poor kid. He grabbed him under his shoulders and dragged him towards the friendly side of the street. He was getting lit up pretty bad but he managed to make it with the Marine. He set him down. "Youre gonna have to hold on for me alright?" Conrad was about to pump him up with medi foam. he didnt get a response. Conrad took a closer look. A brute spike had hit him in the lower jaw and gone into his skull. "god damnit!"
