I have been playtesting my new Daemon army this weekend, have have gone through a few evolutions, I'm currently looking at the following list for an upcoming tournament, which will be against all comers, using all of the standard missions.

HQ

Bloodthirster - no upgrades 250pts

Herald of Khorne on Juggernaut, Unholy Might 120pts

Elites

3 x Flamers, one with Bolt of Tzeentch 135pts

3 x Flamers, one with Bolt of Tzeentch 135pts

Troops

5 x Plaguebearers, one with Icon of Chaos 100pts

5 x Plaguebearers, one with Icon of Chaos 100pts

10 x Bloodletters, one with Icon of Chaos, one with Instrument of Chaos 190pts

10 x Bloodletters, one with Icon of Chaos, one with Instrument of Chaos 190pts

Heavy Support

Soul Grinder with Phlegm 160pts

Total 1500pts

My plan as it stands is two group the army as follows for the purposes of deployment, 1 x Plaguebearers, 1x Bloodletters (with Herald), 1 x Flamers, Bloodthirster as my preferrred 1st wave, with the rest in the second group.

The idea being that the plaguebearers double up as objective holders and terminal guidance for the other deepstriking units in later turns, the Bloodthirster gets on the board early so he can start assaulting things as soon as possible, the first bloodletters are essentially very expensive sacrificial lambs, they are to act as terminal guidance with their icon in turn 2 and beyond, and if they can assault something in turn 2 then great.

I haven't played against Chaos much before, which is one of the reasons I decided to start this army, and would love some feedback.

ABUSE COVER!!!!

Still works out at 1500 points, and means that the shooting might have a better chance of hitting, given the BS 5 of the Prince vs BS 3 of the 'Grinder, I think the fact that Phlegm isn't ordnance is a key point - a large template is all well and good, but of it doesn't even get on the table 50% of the time, that's not great. Breath of Chaos is better than Vomit I think, if I could get rid of another 20 points from somewhere that would let me take Gaze of Chaos which is easily better than a Harvester gun, but might leave the Bloodletters a little short...

The other place to take the 20pts from might be from the Flamers, taking away a Bolt of Tzeentch from one squad, which given their awesome

BS isn't that bad...would leave 10 points spare to give the Bloodetters back their Chaos Instruments...

well breath ist really that usefull your flames got that so you dont need it its wounds EVERYTHING on a +4 and glances vehicals but again its a +4 its a 50/50

instruments of chaos are usless you will never tie combat ever you will almost always win in combat (agenst infantry not walkers)

if you got hte points give it (optional) flight (must) armor (optional) master sorceror / soul devour (must) bolt of tzeech (must) daemonic gaze if you got the points (also unholy might would be usefull for breaking tanks) but this can be very expensive so pick and choose if it gets to much then go back to soul grinder

this is a personal thing of mine but i always go skarbad for the reroll if im fighting a shooty army and abuse cover and charge them and reeroll everyone fail to hit witch is amazeing
