Carving up the Imperial Guard!

The boring intro...

After lurking in Dakka cyberspace for ever and a day I have decided to join up and start a little project log of my own. In my lurking time here I found several blogs that have inspired several ideas for a large amount of grey plastic - that is sat in my spare room - that's better known as the Imperial Guard. After reading through great blogs like the Eden Defence Force Blog and the Finished IG Armour & other Imperial stuff Blog, I have decided that its about time I sat down and made use of all these toy soldiers. Now im solely a modeller and not a gamer.

My aim with this blog is to show some of my idea's, get feedback and to keep me motivated. Anyways enough of the bore chore, lets get making.

So, after debating for a long time about buying Kasrkin i decided against spending as I didnt want to buy metal mini's, so decided I would TRY to cut, carve and file my own - TRY being the key word.

Below are a few pics so far of my Storm Trooper Leader. This is my first time with greenstuff sculpting so I look forward to the c&c.

I have added some power cables from weapons to the backpack using greenstuff. As stated this did involve a large amount of carving and sticking to get the nearly finished peice that is displayed above.

Thanks for looking!

I haven't used a lot of greenstuff before but it looks like thats pretty good. Even thickness and no fingerprints =D

I would probably put something on either side of the backpack that has been filed down, if you haven't already thought of that.
Just random little bolts in the corners to make it look like it was made like that.

Carving up the Imperial Guard!

So I have been making my own weapons for these guys and have also given my storm troopers some knee pads made from greenstuff and will upload pics of these later this afternoon...

I have decided on a desert kinda colour scheme for these guys so have gone with dheneb stone fatigues and a calthan brown armour (think thats the colour anyways). The plan is to mix a Cadian Battleforce and a Catachan one as if these 2 forces were mashed together due to understrength of their individual companies. As stated I'm not a gamer just a modeller so dont think rule issue will come into play doing this.

For now farewell, atleast until I get home from work to the camera later

Looking good so far!

A suggestion, if I may: Buy a six-pack of guitar strings (cheaper the better), high E to low E. The higher, thinner strings are great for pinning, antennae, etc. The lower, thicker, strings are awesome for cables, and are pre-ribbed for your pleasure.

Subscribed!
