FFG:Cadwallon City of Thieves The King of Ashes Expansion. Has an interesting mini from rackham

Running around some wargaming blogs, I found this interesting info about an expansion for a Fantasy Flight game by the name of Cadwallon. I'm not too familiar with the game or its exapnsion but checking out FFG's site has this intriguing bit of info

Cadwallon: City of Thieves - The King of Ashes Expansion

Thunder splits the sky as dark clouds gather above the free city of Cadwallon. The ground trembles, towers sway, and an earthquake of unprecedented violence wracks the City of Thieves! In the midst of the crisis, as bystanders flee the filthy streets, an entrance opens to a series of long-forgotten catacombs.

The guild intrigues of Cadwallon: City of Thieves grow even richer with the treasure trove of new adventures, characters, equipment, and Arcana in The King of Ashes expansion!

Rumors claim the newly-opened catacombs contain the legendary treasure of Sophet Drahas, and the thieves of the city above race to find entrance to these long-hidden catacombs and grab their riches. King of Ashes explores these catacombs with a new board and six adventures that can play independently or combined into a larger campaign.

Revised rules make the militia a more imposing force, and rules for experience, equipment, and mercenaries afford tremendous strategic options in your games, especially when you play them as part of a larger campaign.

Cadwallon: City of Thieves – The King of Ashes includes the following components:

1 catacombs board
3 double-sided adventure sheets
9 character cards
4 game aid cards
    1 Cyclops of Mid-Nor figure
4 mercenary figures
84 Arcana, equipment, and intrigue cards
83 game tokens

I dont know if it is the same size as the original (I doubt it) but I found it interesting

Hmmm... I can pay CMoN $80 for one resin Cyclops of Mid-Nor or I can pay FFG $40 for a plastic one and a game expansion. Not sure how both companies were able to get the production rights to the fig. Though the plastic may be a bit limp :/

Has anyone ever played Citiy of Thieves?
FFG:Cadwallon City of Thieves The King of Ashes Expansion. Has an interesting mini from rackham

I wish I could get the original game of Cadwallon: City of Thieves from someplace that didn't want an arm and a leg for it. The miniatures are cool (although the soft plastic is rather annoying), but it's the game itself I really want.

It could either be a little bit smaller, like the Cities of Thieves figures were, or a lot smaller if it is intended to be used on the original board sections and fit in some of the rooms and alleys. Either way, there is a good chance that this Cyclops will come up a bit... short.

A: Easy, both companies had the money and contacts to secure a license to produce a version of the figure. Depending on the details of those licenses, that could mean that each company had the rights to produce 'their' version of the figure, i.e., they couldn't make a straight copy of the original. Legacy/CMoN full-size in plastic-resin and FFG smaller scale in gaming plastic.

City of Thieves is great fun. Unless someone in the group has played before, expect to get a few things wrong in the first game or two, but that just leads to more fun and back-stabbing due to previous games. Also, the game is FAR more enjoyable with all four players, so that can be a neat trick. But the scenarios are a hoot, especially when the alarm has gone off and most sane people would be more concerned about leaving before the gates close, so instead, all the gangs jump on each other. Gangs with little loot trying to steal it from the more flush gangs, and the rich gangs beating on the poor gangs to slow them down and leave them stuck behind the gates. Ah, good times...
