1500/2000 Ultramarine Army - Beginner - Help please! :)

Hey guys! I recently got into warhammer, especially 40K and have been having a blast at painting. Fighting on the battlefield is not my 'forte' as to speak. So it would be really appreciated if you guys could help me.
Basically all I want is a well-rounded beginner army that can take on different sorts of opponents on the battlefield - all for 1500-2000 points. My army won't be that great , since I didn't have the codex first and I seem to have gone quite point heavy. I am willing to take off a replace parts. Thanks.

So far my army consists of:

HQ
Space Marine Chaplain (finecast model)
Jump pack
115 points

Command Squad
(2 Veterans, 1 Apothecary, 1 Company Standard Bearer, 1 Company Champion)
One veteran has plasma gun
160 points

Troops
Tactical Squad 10 man (9 Space Marines, 1 Sergeant)
Missile Launcher, Flamer, Plasma gun - I'm not sure if this is also allowed (Sergeant has plasma pistol and power fist)
156 points

Fast Attack
Attack Squad 5 man (4 Space Marines, 1 Sergeant)
(Sergeant has power axe and combat shield), Chainswords+ Bolt pistols - Standard + 1 Plasma pistol
135 points

So far my army comes to about 566 points - could someone double check please.
Any C&C welcome

Thanks again,
Vivster

I suggest you buy more tactical squads, some rhino transports, a dreadnought or two. add 5 more assault marines to your assault squad mate. Most of all i can just say play a few games and buy what you need. At the moment you don't have a legal army. You need 1 more troop choice and you will be alright to play.

Another Tac Squad and Rhinos for sure.

C:SM assault marines really aren't very good. I'd avoid them completely. The walking command squad is asking to die so get them transportation as well...useful guns would help too. (can a Chaplain even unlock a command squad.....do they even need to be unlocked?).

Personally I find Chaplains to be junk. Librarians are really the go-to HQ when you aren't using any of the special characters for shenanigans.

The dreads are a decent choice.

What kind of list are you going for?

Thanks for the advice guys. It really helps.
The command squad, were the first marines i go, so i did not realise then that you need a captain for them.
I use the jump pack chaplain to deep strike behind enemy lines with ny assault marines. I might be planning to get terminators quite soon or even sicarius/calgar for my army. If i was to get a librarian, which one would you recommend and what tactics should i use with him.

Thanks,
Vivster
