Quite a few things on youtube concerning this
Try spacepainting as a query.
Also these things are done best as spraypaint (cheap) or airbrush (hella expensive) art.

Good luck!

How do you think you would go about doing this on say a miniature. I've been wanting to do like a Celestial Themed Empire army since I've seen the Hurricanium. I'm particularly wondering about like the mounted knights on their barding.

The way I would do it. Is base the area in black, and use oil paint for the blending ability. Then basically you paint the nedula's like you would clouds in a painting. Its not to difficult, but they will look much better if you do not include a lot of detail since you are doing it on a small mini..

Doing it on a mini would be extremely hard/time consuming. Even with oil paints to give a slower drying time it would take a lot of practice to get your technique down.

Try it on waste bits of plastic before doing it on models. And if using oils remember to give the models several days to dry before varnishing to seal them before painting the rest of the model.
