				<description><![CDATA[ Hello all!<br /> <br /> I recently bought the Lord Solar Macharius figure to lead my Imperial Guard army but found no rules for him anywhere so I created my own. I hope you like them but chances are they'll be a bit crap so could you please tell me any ways I could improve them it would be appreciated . Thanks!<br /> <br /> Lord Solar Macharius: 250pts<br /> WS7 BS5 S3 T3(4) W4 A4 Ld10 I5 Sv3++<br /> Wargear: Armour of the Warmasters, The Emperor's Sidearm, Doomherald.<br /> Armour of the Warmasters: This legendary suit of armour was crafted by Roboute Gulliman after the Horus Heresy from the remaining fragments of the Emperor's  Battle Armour that he wore during his final confrontation with Horus. It was crafted to be worn only by the Warmaster or Lord Solar as they were now called. It is imbued with the Emperor's own psychic might and grants the wearer a 3+ Armour and Invulnerable save as well as increasing their toughness to 4.<br /> The Emperor's Sidearm: This relic Bolt Pistol is designed to fire specially made Godslayer Bolts. R18" S6 AP5 Pistol 1, Ignores Cover., Master Crafted.<br /> Doomherald: A Master Crafted Power Sword that resolves all hits at strength 10.<br /> Special Rules:<br /> Fearless<br /> Master Tactician: Lord Macharius's tactical knowledge is unrivalled and as such all Imperial Guard units automatically pass vox tests.<br /> Eternal Warrior<br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ More buffs, less combat monstrosity. I kind of imagine macharius as some kind of super coteaz type character. Someone who brings very good army buffs, and can defend himself against most things in combat, but wont smash marine commanders or whatever. <br /> <br /> Make his sword S5, and give him the grey knights grand strategy rule.]]></description>

Macharius is a great general, but nobody mentions him carving his way through squads of grey hunters single handedly. Nobody ever runs eldrad because of his close combat prowess, but hes a very good character.]]></description>

Change it to S6 maximum.<br /> Master Tactician could use a bit of a boost similar to Grand Strategy, it wouldn't make me want to take Voxes anymore than before. <br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ You have to remember that the armour wasn't  just crafted for Macharius it was crafted to be worn only by the Warmaster of the Imperium and no one else. We know that it has to have been made shortly after the Horus Heresy because that is when Warmaster was made a title for ordinary human soldiers to have. You also have to remember that he was the most skilled warrior in the Imperial Guard. Plus his armour must be crafted from the Emperor's Battle Plate because the chest and part of the helmet are the exact same. And I assumed that it was grafted by Gulliman because he was the one who brought the title of Warmaster/Lord Solar back into use and he would have been pretty much the only man alive with access to the Emperor's Armour.]]></description>

I always assumed it was a 6+ save just because it looked right. Odd that I missed such a relatively large bit of wargear after so long.<br /> <br /> Anyway, I think Macharius should be a tactical commander, so give him bonuses to improve his actual army, in addition to using the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> orders system.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Was looking around for some of the old Macharius rules, and like some posting in this thread I was inspired to re-vamp him for 6th ed. I thought I'd post my attempt and will happily accept (constructive) feedback. It also seems more appropriate to post it here, rather than start a new thread (as the warning suggests). If an admin wants to move this elsewhere, feel free to do so.<br /> <br /> <br /> So, I've attached the set of rules I came up with.<br /> <br /> I've used him a few times in my local gaming group and he seems reasonably balanced to us. He's dirty to be sure, but not half as bad as Creed. For example he can't issue as many orders, or make a Reaver Titan outflank, but he's a bit harder in combat  than Creed and has some interesting special rules that hopefully make him play differently rather than hiding at the back of the battlefield. It's my opinion that the biggest mistakes people tend to make is they make him 'Creed++', but with better equipment. Or worse: a ridiculous combt monster that wouldn't look out of place in Codex Grey Knights. <br /> <br /> I don't want to offend the people who posted scary combat-macharius, but I wanted to try and keep him human, a total hard-ass, but a human nontheless. Accordingly he's still <b>Initiative 3</b>, and only <b><span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(149);'>WS</span> 5</b>. He's not even got eternal warrior but he is cheaper in points. Essentially I wanted him to be somewhere in between Creed and Kell, a consummate general but also a pretty good on the charge too. He's still ended up too close to a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(119);'>SM</span> captian for my liking, which is why I've deliberately not given him a 3+ save or an Orbital Bombardment.<br /> <br /> In case you can't be bothered to read the attatchment, here are the unique special rules I created.<br /> <br /> <blockquote class="uncited"><div><b>Warmaster</b><br /> Lord Solar Macharius MUST be the warlord of any Imperial Guard Army he is in. He can choose any ONE Strategic OR Command trait without having to roll the dice but he can NEVER take Personal traits. Also, to refect his high rank, a Company Command Squad containing Macharius increases the amount of each regimental advisor it can take by 1. This means he can take 2 officers of the fleet and/or 3 bodyguards etc. The bonus gained to your roll DOES stack.<br /> <br /> <b>Supreme Commander</b><br /> Lord Solar Macharius has a command Radius of 24" and can issue up to 3 orders per turn. Additionally, of all the Warmasters in the history of the Imperium, no one has ever Inspired the same loyalty, bravery and quality in their troops as Macharius. To represent this, the Lord Solar can never roll an "Incompetant Comand" when giving orders, should he ever roll a double six treat the result as a "Could you repeat that Sir" result instead.<br /> <br /> <b>Purity of Purpose/Visionary</b><br /> Lord Solar believed fanatically in his cause and in the sovereign right of mankind to rule the galaxy. Even in his own time he was regarded as a saint by many in the Ecclesiarcy, and entire populations converted to humanity's truth upon hearning him speak. Macharius has the "Righteous Fury" special rule as if he were a Ministorum Priest and this rule is confered to all units within 12" of him. However Macharius' zeal was often his undoing, leading him into rash actions that earned him the ire of many subordinate Generals. Macharius may never choose to deploy units in reserve, athough units can elect to Deep Strike as normal. Note that units which MUST deploy in reserve (such as Flyers) still do so.</div></blockquote><br /> <br /> Let me know what you think, I'm happy with how he works on the table at the moment, but he could do with a few tweaks.<br /> <br /> Mattradius]]></description>
