Effects of chaos on the psyche?

Was thinking about the effects of chaos worship/corruption on the individual's pysche. As far as I understand it, Khorne is pretty simple - RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE. Presumably rational thought is impaired in favour of uncontrollable anger.
Similarly, it seems with Tzeentch that rational thought remains intact, but what about emotions? Do they still love, fear, resent, etc?
Slaanesh are all about the luls, obviously. I well understand hedonism so I can imagine what it'd be like to be a cultist of slaanesh.
Nurgle, I have no idea. Okay so you love that you have all these disfiguring sores all over yourself...what about rational thought? Do they judge and evaluate the mutations of others?

Each of the chaos gods are based on emotion and such would enhance those emotions in their followers.
Strong emotions do not prohibit rational thought, they can just be so overwhelming that they take precedence to rational thought. While Khorn worshipers may have massively increased anger it does not mean they are blindly rage filled, they can still make tactical decisions and think rationally. Their emotions that are enhanced just tend to make them rash and seemingly incapable of rational through as they seek a release for those emotions.

Someone under the influence of Tzeentch would be more like your usual politician / motivational speaker emotionally. They would be vibrant and motivated almost constantly always seeking things to do and things to learn. Nurgle on the other hand is mainly the domain of paternalistic emotions and fatalistic despair. They wouldn't so much love the disfiguring sores, so much as what they represent. They represent a loving gift from their father nurgle, and hence they treasure that gift if not the actual disease itself. Add the fatalistic despair and you would have people who don't really care about the fact that their bodies are dying and painful because everything dies eventually and nothing really matters kind of thinking.

It is also important to remember what gods control which emotional realms. For example khorn controls the domain of pride which would exclude other gods from enhancing that emotion in their followers.

Effects of chaos on the psyche?

Worshiping Chaos may or may not alter one's psyche. The goal of all Chaos worship is to catch the attention of Warp beings, most preferably the Chaos Gods themselves. A cultist wants to affect or be affected by Chaos but something "on the other side" has got to take an interest in him in order for this to actually happen. This is why Chaos Cults inevitably spiral into obscenity: the louder they bang on the walls of realspace, the more likely it will be heard in the Warp.

Once a cultist has the attention of the daemonic, a couple of things are possible. Some will open up their psyche's to Chaos -- and daemons can literally step through (often accompanied by severe trauma to the brain and skull) into realspace. More subtle daemons will use the opportunity to cajole and coerce the mind of the supplicant, with the ultimate goal of possession. Slaaneshi influence, for example, might drive the cultist to greater decadence. The depraved pleasures experienced by the cultist serve to thin down the boundaries between the Materium and Immaterium, allowing the daemon even greater coercion over the cultist. Fulgrim is the most famous example of this.

Other cultists seek to control rather than be controlled by the daemonic. But the preparation necessary to have even a chance of doing so itself transforms the cultist into a more appropriate receptacle for daemonic use. Becoming a sorcerer, for example, involves mental conditioning through rituals that allow the cultist to understand what would otherwise be incoherent to a mind inured to realspace. These rituals, however, are effective because they change the nature of mind in question to work more in tune with the Warp. Thus, even those cultists who seek to control rather than be controlled cannot escape. The Thousand Sons are the famous example in this case.

Of course, some would-be cultists simply aren't worth the attention of the daemonic. These come to the worship of Chaos with greed, lust, hatred, and insecurity and gain nothing from Chaos. They're not affected at all: they were just pathetic from the outset.
