Re:Help with choosing a laptop..

Most of the Laptops on this page will do the job you need:

http://www.dell.com/nz/p/laptops.aspx?c=nz&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn#!facets=42236~0~192303&p=1

Although personally i would stay away from the Ultrabooks, especially for gaming. I would recommend a Desktop over a laptop also, but if its a Laptop you want then Dell is pretty good, you can look at HP, ASUS, Toshiba also.

For SC2 and games that require similar resource needs look for a pc with at least and i5 processor, 4gb ram, and a 1 gb graphics card. that should run it smoothly and the majority of the laptops in that search above are below $1500 and has at least those specs.

I hope this is helpful for you.

Help with choosing a laptop..

I just picked up an ASUS G75 with an i7 processor and Nvidia 660M for under $1300 US. I guess that's just over your price range, but it runs SC2 beautifully with all settings maxed. You should be able to find a G74 series that will perform very well for a better cost.

You definitely want at least a gig of dedicated graphics memory. You'll also want a quad core processor, which is probably hard to NOT find these days. Intel i5 is probably best for cost concerns and should work fine. For reference, I'm running at 2.3GHz on my i7, though you'll probably want a higher speed on an i5.
