Can allies of convenience hold objectives?

A bit confusing in the rules, an ally has to include an hq and a troop choice but if it's an "ally of convenience" they are considered enemy that can't be shot/assaulted etc... Can they still hold objectives for you though? Or only contest? What about "desperate allies"?

Was thinking of a BT army with GK libby/strike squad ally since they're the only psykers they can ally with...

Thanks for any clarification on that subject.

Re:Can allies of convenience hold objectives?

I am going to go with "yes", allies can control objectives. In the section on scoring units, it reads, "an army's scoring units are normally all the units that come from the troops section of the force organization chart." It then lists exceptions, among which allies are not one. Friendly and enemy are also not distinctions, only "army". This one needs an FAQ for sure but I would say that your allies can control objectives. It makes life easier that way.

This one I think belongs in you make da call.

*Runs out of thread as fast as he can*

They are treated as enemy units, so it makes sense to say no. However, it's not on the list of things they can't do, either. So it makes sense to say yes. Fair call either way.

Can allies of convenience hold objectives?

I originally thought no as they are treated like enemies, but under desperate allies it says they are treated like convenience except that units are non-scoring non-denial, and use one eye open rule. This suggests to me that convenience allies can score as it is a feature of all units friend/for on a side unless specifically removed.
