So is the 6th edition book recycling friendly?

Still on the fence about getting 6th ed just yet. Since there's little chance of me playing any time soon. Tempted to wait either for the mini book in a few months or get a cheap one on ebay.

But how is it as a fluff/art book? Lots of new content or will it cut and paste the same damn Space Marine pictures they've used since 2nd edition?

Anyone care to throw out a number for how recycled it is?

So is the 6th edition book recycling friendly?

Well, there are new shots of Terra and a chapter planet. A new shot of an ultra-marine veteran is in there to.

As far as the army profile pictures, the only one that I really noticed that was different was the DE picture, which is probably the best piece of artwork in the whole book.

The timeline has FW events on it (Siege of Vraks) as well as a few events leading up to the 13th Black Crusade and the radio silence of Segmentum Pacificus.

Overall, I liked it, but I never owned a big 40k rule book before, so I can't say how it compares to the others.

It's certainly not a cut and paste job, though much of the major background has been covered before. There are plenty of little morsels in there though which you wont have read before.

Probably the best 40k background compendium to date. As a new rulebook should be. Worth having if you're a fan of the lore IMO.

Very well and heavily illustrated. And who cares if they use some old artwork? Some of it hasn't been "officially" seen for years, like the 3rd edition Dark Angels cover.

Yeah, there's some epic artwork and extra missions(and special mission rules) in there too.

The artwork of the Imperial Temple on Terra is

Re:So is the 6th edition book recycling friendly?

If we're basing our grade on a scale of 1 to recycled, I'd say recycled with some new elements added in.

I think it's worth it, and I'm under the impression that the paper quality is better than 4th and 5th ed. But that may just be an impression
