				<title>Help Picking a Codex for my Minotaurs Space Marine Chapter</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hey DakkaDakka,<br /> <br /> I am going to start collecting the Minotaurs, they are such a cool chapter because they resemble Ancient Greeks. I love their fluff and how they are solitary to the main imperial forces. I also like their combat doctrines, they shoot their enemies till they are pinned and then go in for the kill. I really like that.<br /> <br /> The only thing is I need to pick a codex for them. I don't really like Codex Marines because they aren't the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span> space marine army style I like. I was thinking of using the Space Wolves or Blood Angels codex. I like the close combat ability of the Space Wolves with the Mark of the Wulfen and the nice customized of the Wolf Lord so I can match the Forgeworld model. <br /> <br /> On the other hand, I love the mech behind the Blood Angels with the Baal Predators and fast tanks on everything practically. Also I was thinking of making death company as these Spartan warriors in a way and just go crazy from there. I think having a whole assault marine with jump packs whole be cool.<br /> <br /> What do you guys think?]]></description>

They like to have heavy weaponry to pin the enemy and once they are pinned they go into <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>cc</span> for the kill. Can't remember where I read it from. I would love to use the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> from forgeworld from his rules sadly this is a space wolves codex and not vanilla marine codex. I can only use his forgeworld rules in codex marines, which is too bad but makes sense. I will make him my wolf lord if I chose space wolves.]]></description>

I actually love Salamanders. I could do that which would be really cool since re-rolling ranged weapons. and also the thunder hammers re-rolling could be kinda cool with fluff as well. I like that idea actually. I'll start making lists for all 3 armies and see in the end which might suit best for play.]]></description>

I really love the Minotaurs Chapter Masters rules. I just don't exactly love Codex Marines though. I was thinking of have 3 tactical squads in rhinos with some weapons and then have a 7 man terminator squad with the my <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span>. and then go from there. The Minotaur guy gives everyone preferred enemy against Chaos Space Marines which is cool and has a weapon that is a relic blade that can fire 1 strength 8, assault shot per game. I really like it. Lysander isn't really my kind of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span>. Even though is is pretty sick.]]></description>

You get awesome stuff such as siege dreads, Land Raider Achilles, those 2 characters (who are AWESOME!) and Caetus Rams. Its an upgrade to Codex Marines but it is much different. <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(70);'>IIRC</span> Assault Marines are troops and can all have combat shields for a srt price regardless of unit size and Tacs can get siege mantles. If you're willing to forego them (and the chapter's nifty and background-defining preferred enemy rule) then obviously the Blood Angels' and Space Wolves' codices both do everything ordinary Marines do, only better or more cheaply.<br /> <br /> Given the suggestions implicit in Imperial Armour X, you might even consider waiting a week or two and giving consideration to running a World Eaters list from the forthcoming Chaos Marines book.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Off the top of my head, the Minotaurs' background suggests they should field plenty of terminators and dreadnoughts, so my first thought would be a basis of something like Moloc + deep-striking (or land raider) terminator squads + tactical marines in rhinos + dreadnoughts in support.  Assault marines would obviously be a fluffy choice, but they're not really much use for actually assaulting anything, so I wouldn't bother with them. From your list I'd chop the assault marines (they're just rubbish)), and the predators, and use the points for more terminators and tactical marines.  Since they're portrayed as a well-equipped chapter, I'd consider adding a Master of the Forge as a second <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> (though this rules out a librarian), and taking dreadnoughts in the heavy support slots.<br /> <br /> Bonus edit: Looking through <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(60);'>IA</span> X, the Siege Assault Vanguard list looks very well-suited to the Minotaurs; a mix of tactical squads with mantlets and troop-slot assault squads in rhinos (or even assault rams) without jump packs, plus squadrons of vindicators and/or predators (and the aforementioned terminators in the elite slots) would be fluffy and (just as importantly) fairly effective.  Add a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(384);'>MotF</span> and you could fill out the remaining heavy support slots with a pair of siege/ironclad dreadnoughts for close support of your tactical marines.  (Alternately, add a librarian, since everybody wants a psychic hood, or a chaplain [Ivanus] for extra assaultyness.<br /> <br /> The only downside to this, of course, is that would require investing money and effort buying and painting Forge World stuff, and the world is full of muppets who'll refuse (for no better reason than that they can) to play against you (whilst, of course, seeing nothing wrong in fielding their long fang/purifier/venomspam lists).]]></description>

Also reduce the total number of dreads for more Terminators. <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(471);'>DS</span> Tactical Terminators have gotten a bit of a buff this edition with the nerfing of power weapons and armor saves against Dangerous terrain tests. Take the Assault cannon, cyclone launcher and put a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(221);'>SS</span> on the point man and they can get very nasty now.]]></description>

You could attached a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(471);'>DS</span> capable captain or libby with one though. Moloc could do it well enough but that means he'll be taking a lot of shots.<br /> <br /> <br /> Also, in regards to the dreads I think he's right. Swap out one of the LasDreads or the AssCan one for an Ironclad. Don't use Hurricaine Bolters, they suck. Go for a choice of DDCW and either the Chainfist (Which strikes at normal Int and +1 damage for <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(6);'>AP</span> 2. Also, it was FAQed to count as a DDCW with <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(1);'>2D6</span> armour pen so it gives +1 attack) or Seismic Hammer, which gives +1 attack and adds +2 to damage (<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(6);'>AP</span> 2 and special rule).]]></description>
