				<title>WH40KRP Play-By-Post: Now Playing (Session #1)</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Put simply, I'd like to start a group for playing one of the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(146);'>WH40K</span> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(345);'>RPGs</span> by Fantasy Flight Games. Any one is okay, but I have a fondness for Dark Heresy.<br /> Ideally we'd play here in the forum, post-by-post and using Dicelog for dice rolls.<br /> I'd prefer not to <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(524);'>GM</span>, as I've failed horribly at it before and I really didn't enjoy it.<br /> <br /> <strike><b>EDIT:</b> We're also looking for someone who'd like to <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(524);'>GM</span> for the foreseeable future, as no-one really wants to do it for very long. But I don't want two hard-nosed amasec-swilling shotgun-toting arbites with the same backstory. So if we have a hell-crooked arbites and a holier-than-thou arbites, that could be ok, just no people too similar please.<br /> <br /> On a related note, what does <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(759);'>SP</span> mean? i.e. Weapon Training (<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(759);'>SP</span>).<br /> <br /> Ah. in regards to the picking, feel free to choose...NOTHING! THATS RIGHT! 				<description><![CDATA[ I think we're talking at cross purposes here.<br /> I'm talking about the point-buy stat system found in the Rogue Trader corebook (and not, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(298);'>AFAIK</span>, in the Dark Heresy corebook) where you take 25 across the board, and then allocate a total of 200 points to them (but not more than 20 in any single stat).<br /> Are we allowed to use that? The <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(115);'>RT</span> corebook <i>does</i> warn that the stats produced are slightly higher-than-average, but it's a drastically more predictable and easier way to roll up your stats.<br /> <br /> Also, feth yes. Thanks for taking on being a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(524);'>GM</span> - I'm well aware of how hard it can be to work around nosy and bumbling players.<br /> <br /> And finally, that's how I round up and down as well.<br /> <i>x</i>.0 to <i>x</i>.4 inclusive rounds down to <i>x</i>, and <i>x</i>.5 to <i>x</i>.9 inclusive rounds up to <i>x</i>+1.]]></description>

The <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(30);'>DH</span> way seems like a good way to do it, and the increase in re-rolls that I'm giving will stop there being any really fethed up results, that and the averaging 10 rolls, which is easy to do with the dice one you suggested in the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(280);'>OP</span><br /> <br /> Using that site you recommended, you can churn out stats in a few minutes, its pretty damn good. Quite predictable (hard to get really solid outliers) and very easy. We'll roll with the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(30);'>DH</span> way instead of the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(115);'>RT</span> way, simply because I don't have the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(115);'>RT</span> book sorry.]]></description>

Perhaps a Famulous (Cleric) or Dialogous (Adept), depending on if thegroup needs more intelligence or more fellowship.<br /> <br /> For the record, both of them start with shield robes, a staff, some fluff items, and a revolver in terms of equipment.  <br /> <br /> No powered armor here.]]></description>

You can describe their actions, their words, but you don't have to actually post 'Come back here you cretin', instead you'd post 'My character shouts out at the cowardly man, until he stops running' or whatever.<br /> <br /> I'd like  your input on this, because this is for your enjoyment, and if you'd rather do it with you putting in actual speech and what not then we'll do it like that.]]></description>

</div><br />  The standard scale used on maps like this is 5ft square per grid square, hence the idea of the 5-foot step from games like D&D, but other scales such as 1-meter-per are also in use in other systems.<br /> <br /> Which brings me to another question: What's the scale on that map? I can see that there's 4-5 squares between each thug, but each thug roughly occupies a 2x2 space. <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(30);'>DH</span> doesn't make any assumption about map scale, but I find that 5-foot is the easiest.<br /> ]]></description>

It's pretty lethal most of the time, in a Hero Of The Imperium black-comedy sort of way. Most characters don't reach level 8. Think along the lines of Call of Cthulu or Gamma World, where you're guaranteed to die after a few sessions, but not <i>as</i> drastic and IN SPACE.<br /> <br /> I'd actually be pretty okay with Gaius dying, especially if it was hilarious or awesome. I'd gladly accept the result if I had to roll on the crit table, and I'd probably deserve it for doing something stupid in a fight.]]></description>
