Elysian grapple troops

Elysian Grapple troops: 80 points

Fast Attack

The squad consists of 1 Sergeant and 9 troopers. They have the same statline as vets, armed with lasguns, frag and krak grenades. The squad may take 2 special weapons. They may take meltabombs at +15 points. The sarge may take a bolt or plasma pistol, power weapon, etc.

Special rules: Scout, Grapple system.

The grapple system allows the squad to quickly traverse terrain. As long as all the squadmembers are within 6" of any terrain, they may move as though they have jetpacks. They do not have roll a difficult terrain test if they land in difficult or dangerous terrain.

Cool. 1ppm for Spiderman meltavets with scouts.

The problem with making jump pack units like this is: You either get too expensive for their survivability and damage output, or you get too cheap for their mobility. Your spidermen fall under the latter in my opinion.

Have you been playing Just Cause 2 by chance?

Cool idea, but yeah, I have to agree with Chrisrawr. They're too cheap right now and much more expensive and they wouldn't be worth it.

DoW

Elysian grapple troops

To reiterate, if I had a better suggestion, I'd make it. I just don't feel there are many things that can pull off the low-survivability high-cost low-range gimmick, and can't think of anything decent here.

Perhaps jetpacks for Stormtroopers to allow them to move the same way as Tau Battlesuits. The old Jump-Shoot-Jump shenanigans but with a squad of 10. That would be a little bit more unique and add some survivability.

Unless that was what you meant in your OP?

DoW
