I don't think that the one. The one I'm talking about the one in pg 172 of the rule book its says:
"a Grim Fate- The first incidence of the zombie plague occurs on Hydra Minoris. Quarantine is imposed, trapping 23 billion uninfected Imperial citizens alongside a rising tide of contagious and carnivorous undead."

Then it mentioned again in pg 175 "new plague rising"

of course I'm not very familiar with the 40k fluff so it might be that

You have the "Plague of Unbelief", which is what Typhus and the Terminus Est are the Heralds for. This is a VERY big deal as it spreads very quickly and cannot really be stopped with conventional measures and is used as a way for Nurgle to gain followers (those affected by it still retain their mental faculties, to the point where they can still operate vehicles and weaponry). It's a big enough problem that an entire Ordo of the Inquisition was founded to deal with it and try to find counters, the Ordo Sepulturm.

Aaron Dembski-Bowden's"Cadian Blood" details the Plague of Unbelief pretty well.

There's a plant which is similar to this.
There's also a worm which does similar.

Well, technically, they have.
Both the Blood Angels and the Dark Eldar take some influence from vampiric lore.

Blood Angels are fairly obvious - they drink blood, are long lived, are fairly comely, and have a strong sense of honor reminiscent of some stories about Vampires (Francis Ford Coppola's version of Dracula comes to mind).

Dark Eldar may not drink blood, but the other traits of vampirism are there - they are cruel, treat "lesser" organisms like cattle, practice dark arcane arts, dress in revealing BDSM-esque clothing, feed off the suffering of others (as a vampire would drink blood, and are seductive and beautiful in a menacing way (see: Lilith).
