Corsairs are supposed to be outcasts from Craftworld Eldar society, so are they welcomed by the Dark Eldar (who are technically 'outcasts' as far as the Craftworld Eldar are concerned)? Since they still have psychic powers, they obviously won't be welcomed into Commoragh, but would the Dark Eldar consider Corsairs as 'one of them'?

Corsairs and Dark Eldar

Although I don't know if there's any fluff to be read regarding this, I would imagine that the answer is no for the simple reason that dark eldar don't really consider other dark eldar to be "one of them," and with the number of back-stabbings that go on I wouldn't be surprised if they considered members of their own kabal/coven/cult to be "one of them". However, I think the corsairs would be considered more different because they use a different method of hiding from she who thirsts, which is the main difference nowadays between DE and eldar.

Corsairs and Dark Eldar

Dark Eldar aren't considered outcasts (along with Exodites and Harlequins) as they were never part of Craftworld society. Corsairs would mostly have belonged to a Craftworld before, and have banded together rather than wandering worlds like Rangers do.

Corsairs vary quite a bit, but they are known to help or get help from the Dark Eldar (Imperial Armour XI), usually in exchange for slaving rights (for the Dark Eldar). Some of them may be used as literal Corsairs of a Craftworld, where the Craftworld won't be involved for political reasons.

There are battle psykers that go with Corsairs, and others mainly as navigators or guides for the ships but they are strong enough to be represented on tabletop so will be at least Warlock level.

Re:Corsairs and Dark Eldar

I would say that the Corsairs have far more in common with the Craftworld Eldar than they do the True-Kin. While not following strict paths they still maintain the use of Soul-Stones and, primarily, do not suffer the "thirst" because of it. The "thirst" being the -need- to cause pain and suffering. Essentially becoming a psychic vampire while/because She-Who-Thirsts drains you little by little and you need to "top off the tank". This, in my opinion, is the distinguishing factor.

As for who would welcome the corsairs..

The Craftworld Eldar would thank them for their help if they offered it in a battle, but would be somewhat wary of the "band of hooligans" with space ships and guns.

The True-Kin would deal with them, if they are strong, or ignore them/prey on them if they are weak. When they become a threat.. annex or obliterate them. Then again.. the desires of Archons are fickle things indeed. I hear a Corsair fortress spire filled with the glass figures of thousands of Eldar would be fashionable this time of year to park above my spire....

The poor things probably don't even have a good counter to the Glass-Plague their "latest member" happened to carry on board with him...

According to Path of the Outcast book Rangers dont follow a "path".
