Yea, an all Tzeench army is possible. They can be a huge pain to fight against too.

Load up on Pink Horrors since they will be your one troop choice. They are really great for shooting with 3 S4 AP4 shots each and give one a bolt of change for some anti-armor too.

I would also look into Screamers if you fight a lot of players that use a lot of heavy armor and tanks. They count as jetbikes so they are fast and they come equipped with melta bombs.

Finally, get Kairos the Fateweaver. At 1000 points he will literally be 1/3 of your army but he is so powerful. An FMC with a 3++ rerollable save that lets you reroll all other saves 6" around him.

Flamers are also good too.

I don't think you need fateweaver at 1k. With the price difference between the blue scribes and fateweaver an army can almost buy 9 more flamers, or buy 8 screamers with 4 points left over. Call it 17 wounds or so of elites. That's a lot of firepower to give up, and I think Tzeentch should be played as an aggressive army.

The blue scribes can join units of flamers and toss out a double tap or mix of pavane + breath of chaos. A 2 or 3" pavane on a unit next to flamers is petty much a death sentence.

Fatem weaver is competitive, but he's expensive and not the only option.

The new stats for screamers and flamers (from last month's WD) are utterly brutal. Horrors are pretty decent troops. Tzeentch Heralds on chariot are excellent for the points, the Blue Scribes are also good, and the greater daemon or even Fateweaver are worth considering at higher points.

Follow calypso's lead and go with this army. He knows what he is talking about. I might even change the troops to 3 squads of 6 horrors, but on second thought, keeping them bunched in large groups is going to keep first blood out of your opponents hands.

thisisnotpancho wrote:

I wouldn't push the disks, with the nerf to Look out sir, they are just a waste of points

I am going to slightly disagree here. The Discs have a much larger footprint - they use one of the large flying bases which are a little smaller than a Monstrous Creature base (I think, I have not measured them) which lets you drop more flamers around them when you come in that do not clip one another when shooting at a target.

The problem with Discs was always they had no place to go because Flamers were not that good. When you bring them now over a chariot (provided you pay for We Are Legion, Master of Sorcery and Bolt) you lose 3 potential wounds but gain ablative wounds for all the flamers you put in the unit. Your movement is slightly slower with no Turbo Boost - but from a shooting effectiveness standpoint you have the same potential - and essentially have a 2++ save for Lookout Sir which can be abused a bit by shuffling around your models.

On top of that - the bane of chariots - was being assaulted since they are useless in CC. With 6 flamers in tow, you are going to wreck an average 6 MEQ with overwatch (4 Terminators, 2 TH/SS Terms) which makes the unit much more dangerous in CC as well.

I ran the 9 strong Horrors because it enables them to just wreck some units (an exposed Guard/Tau/Ork unit) is going to take somewhere around 6-8 wounds from shooting these guys and they have some overwatch potential while having enough bodies to weather a decent amount of shooting. The only reason it is not 10, is I like the idea of sticking to sacred numbers where possible. I actually ran a unit of 18x Horrors last week and they performed very well - it is scary to drop 54 dice of overwatch fire into a unit and they are a really obnoxious tarpit unit too.

Bolts on them is not a bad idea, but the more I have played, the more I am realizing Bolt is not as important as it used to be. The changes to assault (screamers I am looking at you) and Hull Points (Flamers, this is all you) has made breaking open vehicles easier - plus you are immune to assault from that unit when the enemy starts your turn embarked - which is why Flamers and Horrors are so much better in the current leftover Mech environment.

Well I would like to use the disks as much as the next guy, but with the BRB FAQ changing so much that it is basically useless for Look out sir. Sure you can swap around guys, but honestly it would be better to take more flamers in place of the heralds points and just have them take the wounds bluntly.

But on the subject of horrors. I have only used them once, mainly because i have always been an assault kind of guy, but also because i always use plaguebearers. I do this simply because they are better at holding objectives and cheaper. But if you are running a mono-tzeentch build i can't voice too much of an opinion on the horrors and what they can do.
