I haven't played 40K since 3rd Edition, but have recently had my interest rekindled. I've picked up the 6th Edition rulebook and am now trying to pick an army. As a long-time fan of the Imperium, I'm limiting myself to those factions which are loyal to the Emperor. In 3rd Edition I played Space Wolves, and was consdering reviving that army, as I still have my Bjorn the Fell-Handed model. However there seems to be a lot of hatred of the Wolves, as apparently their latest set of rules makes them too powerful. Alternatively, I was thinking either Salamanders Space Marines, or an Imperial Guard airborne regiment, though I'm not sure if the latter would be all that effective in practice while maintaining it's core concept, as it'd be without armoured support and be limited on it's heavy weapons. I wouldn't worry too much about what other people think of the army that you want to play.
