				<description><![CDATA[ siiiigh... chaos codex has no transports other than the cardboard box on wheels and the av14 bank. Even with that sick infiltrate the warp talons couldnt get in against an army thats happy to just sit back and shoot. Were now a footslogging, expensive codex. Its gonna b so hard to be cost effective with 90% of the dex. (<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(72);'>imo</span>)<br /> <br /> Defilers are expensive trash now- 200 pts for 1 str8 shot<br /> <br /> Chosen kitted for melee is CRAZY overpriced (if they were scoring or still had infiltrate i could BEGIN to consider them as a possibility but even then...) i dont know how any 1 thinks there gonna get into a combat without getting blasted apart (unless you set up a counter charge by sacrificing another unit + transport). Even ranged chosen are not nearly as efficient as a havock squad kitted with plasma/melta.<br /> <br /> Im not sold on the forgefiends- and i think the hades auto is the way to go if you do run it.<br /> <br /> I think the codex requires us to use something unreliable to be effective SUCH <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(400);'>AS</span>:<br /> <br /> The new chaos spawn is pretty badass now and might be a cheap fast threat to distract opponents. Also the heldrakes baleflamer is pretty sick and hard to stop. I think the chaos boons are really cool. 				<description><![CDATA[ Whenever a codex comes out that is much different from the previous one those armies tend to do poorly.  I remember seeing <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>DE</span> losing all over the place, Blood Angels were getting smashed and Tyranids required such a mental rework that many people just labeled them as bad and gave up (hint they are not bad).  Grey Knights seemed to be okay - but they were a bit more forgiving.<br /> <br /> The same for Chaos.  A <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span> base cost is the same as a Sister of Battle but starts in squad size 5, has a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(119);'>SM</span> statline and the flexibility to become scary as hell.  Havocs are reasonably priced - very very reasonably priced with autocannons, Berserkers are cheaper, plagues are the same but with poisoned attacks and the Lords/Sorcerers are strictly better <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(72);'>imo</span>.<br /> <br /> I think this codex is very well done - it has a lot of depth to it, it is a complex book - it is exactly what casual players who want to play neat cool armies want and what tournament players want to analyze dissect and evaluate.  (also with all the upgrades it gives you a chance to be bad - meaning do not kit your chosen for melee).  It will be an awful long time (if ever) before we agree on what the 'best build' is from this book.<br /> <br /> Also, I am not sure what you wanted in transports - Rhino and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span> are typical <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(119);'>SM</span> fare.  Maybe Razorbacks I guess but if you want to play Razor Spam, you are still in 5th edition.  Others may disagree, but my impression is that firepower needs to be tied up into squads now - not in vehicles that are silly easy to destroy in assault or via hull point attrition.<br /> <br /> Huron and Ahriman also get you that infiltrating guaranteed while the others have a chance to do so.  Defilers are expensive but I think you are forgetting a large number of their weapons - autocannon, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(571);'>DCCW</span> - its 5++, It Will Not Die and 4 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(661);'>HP</span>.<br /> <br /> The only really bad unit I see is Mutilators.  Maybe I am missing another one - but there is a ton of parity in this book.]]></description>

So yeh what did i expect? probably better asking what did i hope for- Some kind of cool deployment system like icons and deepstrike from last edition or even something different like army wide infiltrators with some weird funky rules. I hoped for NOT "typical <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(119);'>SM</span> fare" seriously like take the rhino out and make it a weird open topped av11 one or something DIFFERENT (definitely not razorbacks)! There super cool i love Kharn but i think the chaos dex should of been about enabling super flexible armies (like the troops choices do) and these special char warlord traits... seems to be goin in the other direction...<br /> <br /> Im not saying anythings bad or even broken- mutilators, defilers, ahriman, huron all have their place and it looks a well balanced and fun and competitive codex by all accounts. Havocs look great, predators are comparatively cheap: but thats just devastators and ... predators from c:sm... Does that start to make my point? maybe im not being very clear (soz for that) Chaos Boons and champ of chaps, chaos artifacts, defilers, forgefiends: these are new cool thangs that make the chaos codex different from the c:sm. Not the dark apostle/chaplain and techmarine/warpsmith stand ins: make the warpsmith create some cool warp that is a 12" deployment bubble anywhere on the map? or... whatever it is that the designers come up with!?<br /> <br /> But the killer for me personally is the transports- its such a  key/fundamental part of an army: if they had a funky deployment it would feel like the completely different army, in rhinos its the same army with a few quirky tricks. When i was listing the cool chaos stuff i was like 'yeh they have delivered some cool jazz'. 				<description><![CDATA[ I get what you are saying about the new <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span> a bit more now -  I agree that there is still an awful lot of design room left in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span> (maybe too much) to really differentiate them from the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(119);'>SM</span> brothers.<br /> <br /> I think they do have a lot of unique interesting rules - but transports working differently, cool warp based deployments, summoning rituals would definitely be awesome additions.  Luckily it looks liek <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(143);'>WD</span> is going to continue to supply rules updates to keep books alive and we may be able to look forward to some of these.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ To everyone saying that Chaos keeps getting tabled in the battle reports, look at some of the army lists. I haven't seen an optimized list yet. It's people throwing the models they have on the table, or even guys brand new to Chaos or even <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> too. So, I don't think Chaos has a problem as an Army choice, it's that people are going to have to adjust what they play.<br /> <br /> And yes, I agree whole heartedly that we're a footslogging army now. Shield with spawn or bikes, which are both cheap as all get out and good too.<br /> <br /> ]]></description>
