Finecast isn't that hard to do, just extra cleaning. You have to be very careful with files and picks on em, they're very soft. Simple conversions for me have always been "if the joint fits, glue it on!" Maybe take a look at the painting and modeling threads for some ideas.
Happy Gaming!

Welcome Grey Mouser. The rule of thumb for "fine-cast" is to always open the blister and inspect the miniatures while you're still in the shop. Then trade in and re-inspect to you find a decent quality casting. My record so far is four blisters before I found a Necron Lord that was acceptable. And by acceptable, I mean it only had six small airbubbles and one leg obscured by flash.

Out of 36 finecast miniatures purchased by myself or sent to me by customers so far, only one has not needed either replacement or extensive cleaning and repair work with the old green stuff.

They are getting better though. The average time I spend preparing each finecast miniatures is going down every month or so. In another year or two, I expect they'll finally have a decent product on their hands.

Get yourself some liquid green stuff. It's invaluable for quickly filling in airbubbles and the like. Also, normal superglue works really well for repairing the fine-cast resin when bits break off.

I've yet to find a reliable means of straightening fine cast after it bends or wilts under a painting light though. If anyone's found one, I'd be keen to hear it.
