Hell On Earth Post Apoc Miniature Kickstarter - Reaper

I just realized I had not seen a thread here about this particularly Post Apoc themed Miniatures Kickstarter.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1176616619/hell-on-earth-miniature-mega-release

Their pricing is a bit odd, but in general for $25 you get 4 "Core" miniatures.

Then for each $6 you pledge above that you get your pick of those miniatures that get unlocked as goals are reached.

There is now an option to get 10 picks for about a $5 saving (you get the core 4 and 10 picks, normally $85, now for $80) that also gets you any bonus "freebies" like if they reach $15K you will get a 3-pack of wormlings.

They got a lot of goals to reach to unlock all the various miniatures (my personal hope is it break $50K as that's where the reckoners are (mutant priests).

So if you are a fan of PA minis check them out.

Re:Hell On Earth Post Apoc Miniature Kickstarter - Reaper

I saw this campaign when it first popped up on Kickstarter, as someone who loves the Post-Apoc genre i was ready to pledge until i noticed the ridiculous ROW shipping costs included in the low pledge levels. I can fully understand any order that includes the book having high shipping, but $25 postage at the $25 pledge level for only four models is an absolute joke. The 'Gang Leader' pledge level seems to be the money spot of this campaign, it comes with enough models that i don't feel violated by the $25 ROW postage and is also eligible for the bonus goal models.

Im somewhat disappointed they've chosen to create a model of the stereotypical 'wrench girl' that has been featured in a few other KS campaigns, it just seems overdone and a waste of a good sculpt at this point.

Also does anyone know if these HOE miniatures are going to be completely new sculpts, or will some of them just be modifications of models from Reapers existing range? Only asking because i noticed that the concept art for the 'waster 2' is almost a direct copy of the Reaper model 'Rex' with a few minor changes.

Yeah, they made the mistake of trying to reboot into the d20 system, but went back to their own Savage World system and then last year they update those rules and relaunched Deadlands into that update ruleset (Deluxe). Then a year later they shrunk the hardbacks into softback (for cheaper). Which if I was a betting man they will do with HoE (so 2014).

As for variations
Now they have Hell on Earth
And they will be coming out with Noir.
Both of those set in the same "world" but different times (deadlands the old west, noir in the 1940-50s, HoE - Post apoc).

If you are curious about the rules, the core rule book is available for $10US, then if you like that you can check out the setting books that leverage that book.
The pinnacle website also has a bunch of free adventures, the one that includes the most rules is their free adventure The Wild Hunt.
http://www.peginc.com/shop/test-drive-savage-worlds-the-wild-hunt/

Unity and the Lost Colony stuff were both not their best work. I'm glad they're working on Savage Worlds versions of these settings, as they had some neat ideas. I was very resistant to the SW versions at first. I didn't like the simplified system and of course seeing the utility of my stacks of Deadlands books dwindle. Nowadays, if I was looking for an RPG to run I'd certainly consider running the SW version of Deadlands (or HoE). It's extremely trimmed down and fast to run, which works for me now. They have (to my understanding) fixed some early issues where the system wasn't as 'flavorful' by making hucksters more interesting, but at the same time cleaned up the mess that all the different potential Arcane Backgrounds could bring. (In HoE, you could conceivably have over a dozen mechanically-diverse Arcane Backgrounds running around, especially in a post-Unity environment where time travel was a difficult but possible proposition: 'native' Sykers, Cyborgs, Librarians, Junkers, Tempalrs. Time-traveling Hucksters, Martial Artists, Shamans, Blessed, Blood Mages, and plain Harrowed. And from Lost Colony, the nanotech guys and the Anouk version of undead. And whatever I've forgotten! Some were pretty risky... A lot of the Weird West would have trouble if time-traveling, as their power sources were suddenly unreliable...

Savage Worlds narrows this down to a bunch of variants of a couple core mechanics, which probably makes more sense. It's a basic 'power point' system, with a relatively simple special rule for each background to differentiate it.

Also the core system is just a lot quicker. Easy to handle mooks and focus on the fun parts, not record keeping. I'd definitely bring up SW Deadlands as an option if I was about to run a game these days.

We've got the first art for the character created by our Leader of the Iron Alliance. Check out our post-apocalyptic goth witch, Samantha "Sam" Montgomery!

They have also added a few more bonus goals to the campaign. (Which at this point might as well just be called stretch goals....)

First up is the Doombringer at $35k.

Spoiler:

If we reach $35K, we will unlock... the Doombringer!

And at $50k is a 3 pack of mutants.

Spoiler:

Mutants! These guys will come in a 3-pack of minis with the three different arms shown to make each one a little unique.

As much as i would absolutely love to see the mutants unlocked, i strongly doubt that the campaign will be able to amass the necessary $22k with only 3 days left.

Re:Hell On Earth Post Apoc Miniature Kickstarter - Reaper

The campaign just hit 40k, And they've released a new update since there is less than a day left before this finishes.

Update #31: 24 Hours And Counting Down!

You guys have pushed hard these past days, so we're going to do the same. Since time is counting down, so are we! We're dropping all the existing goals by $2K for the last 24 hours!

The Mutants now unlock at $48K, the Librarian at $50K, and the Templar at $54K!

That's almost as tight as we can squeeze it. I say "almost" because we have one last reward to toss out there...

If we get that last backer at the Leader of the Iron Alliance level, we will drop all the goals again! That person's pledge will not only increase the total but lower all the goals even more! Down to...

$46K for the Mutants, $48K for the Librarian, and $50K for the Templar!

Yep, you read that right; we will drop the others by $2K and the Templar by another $4K!

Given the last few days, these goals are absolutely possible! Tell everyone you can, and let's make this last day the best ever!

Im really hoping that someone chooses the final 'Leader of the Iron Alliance' pledge level, i desperately want those mutants...

They've also uploaded 2 new greens of the Junker #2 and the Waster #1.

Its a shame that Reaper didn't give this campaign a shout out, I know Reaper were only handing the miniature production but it still seems odd to me that they wouldn't want the campaign to expand so they could get paid to produce even more of the models.

Well with only 5 hours left in the campaign, i think this thread deserves a final bump from me before bed.

They uploaded some concept art from the 2nd 'design your own character' pledge level earlier today, the lore of the character is he's a blind, bounty hunting, swordsman. But i think he would make a great badass zombie hunter.

If it wasn't for the terrible international shipping, I'd pledge. Instead, I'll just wait until Reaper actually produces the miniatures and get them either ordered through a local store or shipped for FREE like Reaper does with orders to Canada over $25.
