Two Questions about Spawns

I have two questions about Chaos Spawns:

1). Where those Chaos Spawns on the planet Caliban in the novel "Descent of Angels"?

2). Do Chaos Spawns have souls? They are described as mindless, but seem to have some sort of conscious lives, as described in "A Thousand Sons" and in "Flight of the Einenstein."

But do they have a conscious life, a soul? The Spawns in "A Thousand Sons" seem to have some internal life to what they do and what they see. But they were quickly destroyed. Would that conscious life have continued?

Yes, they are still whoever they were prior to changing. But they are completely insane and have become true children of chaos.

So I suppose you could say for all practical purposes they arn't who they were anymore. Whoever they were is simply trapped in an insane body with no hope of returning to normal.

The person may be able to see what he does from inside his body but it would be like a dream, even though they could possably control their actions they have no will power to do it.

The mere fact that they are chaos spawn proves they have a soul, as for a Chaos God to bestow its gifts ontonan entity it requires a link between the Warp and the being (the soul), this is why blanks and pariahs cannot be directly effected by Chaos or psykers.

Whether or not the spawn can think rationally (the conscious) is another matter entirely, most likely they have lost their mind and desire only to kill.

If you are referring to the mutated marines, they weren't spawn, juts marines who had VERY unstable geneseed. It's mentioned by Magnus
