Maybe the formula handed to Corax back in the Day before the AL stole it, was clean enough to create marines and to have a chance to understand the process of creating Primarchs. If you did have a genetic sample from a primarch, you could clone him. It would still just be a clone.

If you had a genetic sample, you could also create some new geneseed. It would be free from any impurities that the generations of progenoids may have developed over the years.


So if you had a genetic sample from Dorn, for example, the Imperial Fists could fix the fact they are missing several minor organs.
