Hey there. Its me again with NEW DE! I picked up a pack of scourges a while ago, and have finally got round to painting them. "scourges of the highest peaks" comes from were their meant to live, the peaks of the dark city.

wat do you think?

I think that those are either flowers or throwing stars.
I also think if you're going to put something on the base and paint blood on it, the base shouldn't be left black. The paint job in general looks good.

Generally not a very good job. Your bases look really bad and it is hard to tell about your actual paint job because the photo is really bad.

1. Work on your basing style. What you have now looks horrible and unfinished. Consider learning how to use sand or even flocking gel. If you need to use blood (which I don't suggest because it usually looks bad) you should learn how to make it look like a liquid and not a splotch of red paint.

2. You really need to work on your photo taking. You need better lighting as your miniature is covered in shadows and it is hard to tell what your paint job looks like.

3. If you are going to put a bolter laying on the ground you should probably still have the pistol grip on it.

brettz123 wrote:
Generally good attempt. Your bases could use some refinement and it is hard to tell about your actual paint job because the lighting makes it difficult to see.

1. Work on your basing style. What you have now looks like a good attempt, but a few details and some simple techniques could really improve the look you were going for. Consider learning how to use sand or even flocking gel. If you need to use blood (which can be difficult to get right for anyone) look into a few other products to help you get the feel you were going for, such as a gloss medium or some transparent red.

2. Your lighting could use some improvement as your miniature is covered in shadows and it is hard to tell what your paint job looks like.

3. The dismembered marine is a good start for effect, but maybe taking inspiration from the gallery a few cuts or grinds here and there could help provide some inspiration and show you some techniques

fixed.

I think your attempt needs some refinement, but over all I think you're on the right path. I appreciate the "feathers" being different colors. really gives the eye something to try and follow and you don't get stuck focusing on one point in the model.

I think your colour scheme is really cool and works well. It seems like you've done some pretty good highlighting on the armour panels, and everything looks pretty neat and tidy.

From what I can see I'd say that you've used washes to good effect on the hands, but I think the feet could do with another wash to really get some shadows going on them.

GW have just put up a pretty good guide on how to take photos of miniatures on their website, so it might be worth checking that out to help with your photography.

I use a dark grey rubble, with some tufts and looks good to me.

Remember bases and faces are the important things to really make an average model a good model.

Keep trying Tobias and you will get some great models soon.
