Work In Progress - Codex: C'Tan Cults

My current work in progress is making a C'Tan cults codex to represent Necrons that are still servants of the C'Tan, which serve as a hybrid between the old fluff and the new. What I am currently puzzling over is how to best reintroduce Pariahs into the codex from a mechanical standpoint. Right now, I am leaning towards them being an Elite choice with a 0 - 1 Limit on them for each FOC (with the possibility of a C'Tan HQ special character, probably the Deciever, I'm not sure if the Night Bringer would be a fluffier choice) allowing you to take them as troops. Right now this is the profile I've come up with for them.

Unit: Pariahs - 125 points
Note that only one unit of Pariahs may be taken for each Force Organization Chart used.
WS4/BS4/S4/T4/W1/I4/A1/Ld10/Sv3+
Unit Composition: 5 Pariahs
Unit Type: Infantry
Wargear: Rod of the Covenant
Special Rules: Pariah
Options: May take up to 5 additional Pariahs for 25 points per model.
The entire squad may replace their Rods of the Covenant with Warscythes for 5 points per model.
May Take a Night Scythe as a dedicated transport - 110 points

Pariah - Pariahs are blanks, beings with absolutely no warp presence, whom have devastating effects on nearby psykers and psychic powers. Pariahs automatically dispel any psychic power that would effect them, and count as being equipped with a Gloom Prism as described in Codex: Necrons. Additionally, as long as at least 1 Pariah is on the board, all psykers suffer from -1 to their leadership value.

Thoughts?

Work In Progress - Codex: C'Tan Cults

I dunno...looks pretty weak to me. And I4? In a necron army? That clashes a bit with the rest don't you think?
I would let them keep their warscythes with built in gauss weapons as base. There's some ideas for them here:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/411515.page#3606839

That might serve as inspiration.

And Night Scythes are 100 points.

Re:Work In Progress - Codex: C'Tan Cults

The reason that they are I4 is because in the fluff, Pariahs are not true Necrons, but blanks (typically human) who are enhanced and encased in Necrodermis bodies. For this reason, they aren't slow in the same way that Necrons are (hence the I4), but because they still have a human core (as fully transferring them into Necron bodies would eliminate the effect of them being a 'blank') they lack Reanimation Protocols. I was maybe a tad conservative when costing them, since I didn't want them to be OP, but I might just make the Warscythe their default weapon and keep them at 25, or perhaps drop them to 20, give them the option of a Rod or Staff of Light for free, and keep the warscythe at 5 points.

Also, I know that Night Scythes are 110 points in the codex. For this list I'm also doing a lot of re-balancing of units for a variety of reasons, including fixing what was improperly priced in the Necron Codex (mostly slight tweeks) and changing some things to try to nip any potentially OP new combos in the bud (Night Scythes are now 110, MSS is about 5 to 10 points more expensive on most models, Courts have been changed, Whipcoils are more expensive, the Doomscythe is getting a change, etc).

Re:Work In Progress - Codex: C'Tan Cults

Ok, the next thing I'm working on is the idea of C'Tan Blessings. They are wargear choices which any Lord or Destroyer Lord character can purchase one of. Some of the abilities overlap with Cryptek abilities, this is in part because I am currently planning on removing Crypteks from the C'Tan Cults army list.

Blessing of Speed - 20 pts: The blessed model has the Fleet USR and had its base initiative doubled. This new value counts as its unmodified initiative value.
Blessing of Fire - 15 pts: Attacks from this model are at +1 Strength (even shooting attacks) and have the Soul Blaze USR.
Blessing of Storms - 20 pts: This model may make a shooting attack once a turn that counts as using a Voltaic Staff, as in Codex: Necrons. This attack may be made in addition to any other shooting attacks this model makes, but must be made at the same target.
Blessing of Darkness - 35 pts: This model counts as being equipped with a Veil of Darkness as described in Codex: Necrons
Blessing of Stone - 15 pts: This model may make a shooting attack once a turn that counts as using a Tremorstave, as in Codex: Necrons. This attack may be made in addition to any other shooting attacks this model makes, but must be made at the same target.
Blessing of Death - 40 pts: All close combat attacks made by this model have the Instant Death USR.
Blessing of Eternity - 40 pts: This model has the 'It will not die' USR.
Blessing of Silence - 15 pts: This model counts as being equipped with a Gloom Prism as described in Codex: Necrons.

Additionally, the generic HQ choices are going to be Overlords and Destroyer Overlords (essentially the current version of the Destroyer Lord). Lords and Destroyer Lords (now cheaper, 1 wound and 2 attacks base) are available for Royal Courts for Overlords and Destroyer Overlords, respectively. Here are the entries

Overlord: 90 Points
Base Statline, Wargear, and Special Rules: See the Overlord Entry from Codex: Necrons
Options:
May exchange the Staff of Light with:
- A Hyperphase Sword: Free
- A Gauntlet of Fire: Free
- A Voidblade: 5 Points
- A Warscythe: 10 Points
If the Overlord has a Hyperphase Sword or a Voidblade, he may take a Dispersion Shield for 20 points.
May take any wargear available to Necron Overlords in Codex Necrons, with the following changes:
Mindshackle Scarabs now cost 25 points.
An Overlord may take one C'Tan Blessing.
May take a court of 0 to 5 Necron Lords. These act like a court as described in Codex: Necrons

Destroyer Overlord: 125 Points
Base Profile and Rules are the same as the Destroyer Lord Entry in Codex: Necrons
Equipment: Warscythe
Options:
May Replace the Warscythe with:
- A Staff of Light, Gauntlet of Fire, or Voidblade: Free
If a Voidblade is taken, the Destroyer Overlord may take a Dispersion Shield for 30 points.
May take any of the following:
- Sempiternal Weave - 15
- Mindshackle Scarabs - 30
- Tachyon Arrow - 25
- Resurection Orb - 30
May take any one C'Tan Blessing.
A Destroyer Overlord may take a court of 0-5 Destroyer Lords. Additionally, each Destroyer Lord you take allows you to field 1 full squad of Destroyers (ie, a squad containing 5 Destroyers as described below) as a troops choice.

Royal Courts:

Lords: See Codex Necrons, with the following changes
Mindshackle Scarabs cost 20 points.
The Cost of a voidblade is 5 points.
They may take a Dispersion Shield if they have a Voidblade or Hyperphase Sword for 20 points.
They may take one C'Tan Blessing. However, models in the same Royal Court can not take the same C'Tan Blessing.

Destroyer Lords: See the entry in Codex: Necrons, with the following changes.
They may now only be taken as part of the royal court of a Destroyer Overlord.
They now have a base cost of 60 Points.
Their wounds are reduced to 1 and their attacks are reduced to 2.
The cost of a Voidblade is now free.
They may take a Dispersion Shield if they took a voidblade for 30 points.
They may take one C'Tan Blessing. However, models in the same Royal Court can not take the same C'Tan Blessing.

Work In Progress - Codex: C'Tan Cults

Seems pretty good. Maybe drop Blessing of Eternity by 5 points, as It Will Not Die is sweet but on a 5+ not outstanding. Has the best name of any special rule, though.

Should make a PDF version of this.

EDIT: change Pariahs back to S and T 5, give them warscythe + gauss blaster base, and make them more expensive. Invuln piercing is pretty cool too, now that every Marine and his hormagaunt has an invuln.

Work In Progress - Codex: C'Tan Cults

I agree that bypassing Invulnerable saves should be an extremely rare ability, found on units of the magnitude of an assassin. A PDF version of this will come, but I've only just scratched the surface so far and am working through the process piece by piece to try to refine everything, instead of just throwing a massive document out for everyone to have to deal with at once.
