http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/65.page JForum - http://www.jforum.net 40k a couple of months ago with Dark Eldar. While they were fun enough, I found myself wanting more. I switched over to the dark side known as CSM. After only a couple games, 1v1 versus Space Wolfs and 2v2 allied with Demons versus Grey Knights and Flying Circus Necrons, I've pretty much decided this is most certainly the army for me. Though neither of these battles ended in victory I considered my sources of defeat. A close match versus a veteran player of Space Wolves and the warp quake of the Grey Knights coupled with superior shooting of Necrons, I knew these would be tough match ups. So after these couple matches I have what I think to be a pretty streamlined and solid 1k list for a green guy like me. Any tips and critisicm would be much appreciated.

This list should total up to 1000 points exactly. The idea behind this list is to take the Lord with the Spawns, as they are able to keep up with the Lord on steed and soak up wounds. This should soften up the first objective and give the opponent something to shoot at until Berzerkers get into position. Meanwhile, the cultists can sit back in cover on another objective or set up a good killzone on something. The Obliterators are there for support, as they can do well against infantry or heavys or even to help secure an objective after it is taken. I tried to minimize upgrades taken as it seems that this point level does not support it. I feel that the power swords are almost a must for the lord and the champions for the fact they have to challenge. Power fist puts them at I1 which will most certainly get them wrecked against anything decent in cc. The berzerkers also seemed to give the most bang for buck in the points department. With a total so low, taking anything but normal csm or the berzerkers give you too few troops to really be effective. On the latter, I can justify the berzerkers over csm troops because they are a little more specialized and hopefully will put you over the top in a matchup versus the normal tactical marine. With a few more points, I would like to work in a Heldrake with a baleflamer and probably mark the Obliterators Nurgle to prevent insta death. Other than that, Im out of ideas.
