Tau Heavy Support option.

TAU EMPIRE

XV-28 Tau “Heavy Buster” Suit

The Tau XV-28 or Heavy Buster Suit units are designed to crack open the thickest armor and flush enemies out of fortified positions. The XV-28 Armor is heaver and thicker therefore making it difficult to place a jet pack on. Instead they are tougher and harder to kill being that their purpose to go toe to toe with enemy tanks and bunkers. After pathfinders identify the heaviest threats in the enemies army it is the job of the Buster unit to deep strike close behind the enemy armor and melt it to the ground. Also working on destroying bunkers they can pour in a wave of flame and flush out any hiding within for the rest of the tau military to shoot down from a great distance. The XV-28’s all have stealth field generators much like the stealth suits to protect them from enemy fire while moving into position All XV-28 suits come with nanobots that crawl across the fire warrior’s skin and help repair any wounds they may take. However the nano technology is still new and sometimes while repairing a wound will wrack the body of the fire warrior with unbelievable pain rending them useless until they can recover.

Model	Points	WS	BS	S	T	W	I	A	LD	SV	Type
Shas’ui	60	2	4	4	3	2	3	1	8	3+	In
Shas’vre+10	3	4	4	3	2	3	2	9	3+	In

Team: 1-3 Buster suits

Unit Type: Infantry

Equipment: Each team member is equip with a fusion cannon, modified crisis armor, EMP grenades, Stealth field generator and a multi tracker. Each member may select one battle suit support system. If this option is taken all member must do so, though each may select a different system.
Special Equipment:

Nanobots- On a feel no pain roll of 1 the Buster Suit not only takes the wound but goes to ground until the start of the next friendly turn. All other models must maintain coherency but can still fire as normal
Fusion Cannon: The fusion cannon was designed by the tau to deal with bunkers and the heavy army of tanks. It is also equip with a flamer for when the Buster suits get too close to the enemy or if they have to flush out the occupants of a fortified location. The Fusion Cannon however is still under development and at time it may malfunction causing harm to the user.

Stealth Field Generator- A device strapped to the back of each Buster Suits creates a distorted mirage like image making them hard to target. Models with this generator have the shrouded special rule when taking fire from greater than 12 inches away.

Weapon	Range	S	AP	Type
Fusion Cannon Blaster	18”	8	1	Heavy 2,Twin Linked, Melta, Gets Hot!
Fusion Cannon Flamer	Template	5	4	Assault 1

Character: One Shas’ui per team may be designated as a Shas’vre for +10 points and may take items from the battle suit wargear list.
Special Rules: Acute Senses, Deep Strike, Feel No Pain, Outflank, Relentless, Shrouded (see Stealth Field Generator)

I spent a little while coming up with this, even made a model, just waiting for the green stuff to cure and to paint it up and then i'll post it, Any thoughts welcome!

Well, as i see it, they look fine but, dont you think they make more or less the same job as a Broadside, but in more CC style? They are slightly cheaper, but not as much since the Broadside pack up a TL Railgun.

And, that Armor save of +3 its okay, but do you plan to make it Invulnerable? Thats just nonsense, they have already 4+ Cover save on the open thanks to the SFG, and they ALSO have a +3 Inv? Thats a no, i think it would be better with a cost of 45 up to 4 units, and making them Elite/HS option similar to Dreadnaughts.

But also, if we stuck to the Fluff, you must get that the Tau will never field a weapon that can backfire at them, thats why their plasma weaponry is weaker than imperial, so the gets hot rule is unfluufy, but its comprehensible. Im curious about the model you made up for it, whan can you upload a picture of it? its XV25 based? or XV8?

But even with all of this things i disagree, i must say, your unit its awesome

On the saves, I see nothing that qualifies this for an invulnerable save. Also, you have the Stealth Field Generator working as a Disruption Pod rather than the actual Stealth Field Generator does.

I would suggest that this unit come standard with Irridium Armour and the choice of either the fully functional Stealth Field Generator or a Shield Generator.

The Nanobots should not be Feel No Pain with a nasty side effect. The Tau already have Stimulant Injectors available for Feel No Pain. Give them these instead and if you must have the Nanobots do something, It Will Not Die comes to mind, but the Tau typically don't field a system that hasn't been developed to the point where it may cause such horrible pain on the unit.

Since this is an infantry unit, how is it Deep Striking and how is it relentless? I can see outflank/infiltrate from the Stealth Field Generator, but that may be a slight stretch for a heavy support choice like this.

As for the weapon, I'd suggest that you instead go with the Fusion Cannon used in Imperial Armour 3. It can be found here http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/t/Tauupdate.pdf

Also, the statline seems off. I'd suggest directly copying either the statline from a Stealth Suit or from a Crisis Suit depending on which is the base model.

I am interested in seeing this model as it will likely explain a lot of the choices you've made.

So... It looks more or less like a marine, with a Tau head? Arent you goin to change the legs for a XV25 ones? I dont know if you ever saw this pick but, it might be helpfull http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa468/eddie260/XV_23_Battle_Armor_Concept_by_Proiteus.jpg and im actually converting some as soon as i can pick the Marine upper body without paying for the whole marine pack.

With the obvius differences of course, for the melta i advice you not to glue 2 together, its just too blocky for the smooth overall look, and it may seem pretty unbalanced. Why dont you try to use just 1 barrel of the FB and glue under it the lower part of the tau Flamer? it brings a pretty nice image on my mind, specially if its managed to look like a whole weapon.

Anyway, show it to us ASAP! It may be nicer than what my mind is making me see actually.

I feel like they're a little expensive for what is at the end of the day a suicide melta unit, 2W/FNP or no. I'd advise dropping them back to BS3 if they get to select a support system, or saying they're already equipped with targeting arrays and you can't take a different system.
