40k Casual Campaign

Does anyone know of a campaign ruleset that works well for doing a local event? The issue that we have is consistency, so I'm looking to find a campaign that allows players to drop out or jump in on an "as needed" basis.

Any ideas?

I'd say... Use one of the imperial armor book campaigns for starting ideas. And consistency issue, hm...

How about this crazy idea: Whatever campaign you use, have each player represent a commander, and add a few NPC commanders as well, perhaps as allies of existing factions. Have the NPCs score victories or defeats with a single roll of a D6 if nobody can be bothered to play their battles.
Then If a new player suddenly jump in, have them pick one such NPC commander (keep the exact race of the army a little vague, possibly they're mercenary sorts, so flexible on morals).
And if a player suddenly has to drop out, their commander becomes 'NPC'.

Insert hijinks about the great blood angel company scoring victory after victory, but the incompetent commander on the west flank keeps frakking up and making a mess of things, argh! Maybe giving the angels a reason to attack their command regiment to execute and replace him. Heh.

Interesting idea. Might have something there.

Alternatively, the idea had was a "siege" rule. For example, if a player can't play in a given week, his opponent sieges his territory causing him to lose 50 points on his army list. The next week, if he still can't play, he loses another 100 points (for 150 total). If it goes to a further third week, they automatically lose the territory.

40k Casual Campaign

You could have three different factions that each play can play games for, then have each game win worth a set amount of points. Then the faction with the most points at the end would win and maybe the player that got most of those points could be the final winner.

Example being; Imperium ( Space Marine, IG, etc.), Chaos and then xenos. Depending on what armies people play you could follow the allied chart to see what catagory each army would fall under. Maybe a gaurd player is under Chaos for this campaign.

That would allow players to come a go but still play when they can.
