Problems with thin paint...

I use Vallejo Game Color and Model Color, and I've noticed that Some of the brighter colors are very thin, to the point where they start acting more like a wash than a paint. It will seep and pool in the deep recesses and leave the higher areas almost uncovered. I've noticed this with my red, white, yellow, and green paints. Is there anything I can try to get better coverage?

I haven't noticed it in mine, and I use a lot of Vallejo Air which is even thinner. Perhaps you've gotten a bad batch?

In general, you deal with thin paints by painting multiple layers... but of course usually that's on purpose (as opposed to having thin paints that you don't want).

Problems with thin paint...

Two separate issues here - coverage and consistency.

Some paints have poorer coverage than others by nature of the pigment (type, quantity, or both) - yellows are especially notorious, but whites and reds are often problematic, as well. For these, you'll have to use multiple, thin coats to achieve a solid color. Undercoating with better covering paints in a similar color ("foundation/base/heavy" type paints are great for this) can help speed up the process, but it still comes down to painting layers, in the end.

The seeping and pooling is an issue with consistency. Have you given the paints a thorough stir, as well as shake? Shaking is all well and good, but without an agitator in the bottle, it's unlikely to redistribute much pigment if it has settled at the bottom of the bottle. It may be that your paints have partially separated, so you have too much medium in the stuff that comes out, resulting in thinner paint.

Granted, I have noticed that a few of my colors seem to behave a bit differently than the rest, both with VGC and GW paints. Whether that's an issue with the batch, age, or the formula, it's hard to say. At the very least, a thorough mix before starting can't hurt, and you can either learn to work around the consistency/behavior issue or replace it with a different brand's equivalent color.

Problems with thin paint...

I had this problem as well, and sometimes still do with Vallejo. You need to shake until you think you're done shaking, then shake again for another hour or so. At least that's what it feels like. The separation is nasty in some of the colors.

My VGC reds and greens are similar, as Evertras suggests, you just have to shake and stir the hell out of them.

Adding an agitator helps too. Any leftover greenstuff I have, I mold into little balls, let them cure and then pop a couple into the troublesome colours.
