Night Goblin army advice? tactics? help?

Hey guys, after looking around alot and really trying to find an army that I think I enjoy the fluff of and would really enjoy painting/playing I have settled on a Night Goblin filled Orcs and Goblins army. Now I know hey have alot of weaknesses but they seem to have a few strengths and I really just love the models. Any tactics advice you guys could offer would be a great help, I plan on starting them regardless but any help to avoid losing every single game would be great lol. My gaming group is planning to run the battle of the badlands campaign in a month or so so I would like to be prepared Thnx in advance

Learn how to use mangler squigs as fast as possible. Remember that its OK for it to bounce through your unit of crappy night goblins so long as it also hits the enemy's expensive chaos knights.

same goes for fanatics, but to a lesser extent.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Out of curiosity, are you planning on sticking with only night goblins?
Mangler Squigs are very goblinny and very good.

Doom divers are excellent warmachines, though you will want to use stonethrowers to supplement.

Squigs are also nice, though I would stay away from the squig hoppers, your mileage may vary.

Arachnaroks are blenders on 8 legs. Buy one, love it.

Re:Night Goblin army advice? tactics? help?

Couple of observations about night goblins.

A block of night goblins with spears, cheap heroes, netters, and some fanatics is actually a decent close combat unit. However, biggest issues are low armor and morale. Having a decent LD general in range, and ensuring your blocks are big enough to maintain stubborn despite casualties, will help with losing some close combats. Putting the spider banner in this unit can have mixed results, as it would be your BSB, and would be subject to headhunting. Spider Banner may be better in an archer unit near enough close combat units to give rerolls.

Fanatics are better used as defensive weapons when you are being charged. That way it is likely you will connect with your target. Expensive Heavy Cav often give them a wide berth while the player will send crap troops to try and trigger them.

Sqigg hoppers took a hit this edition due to the new movement rules.

Doom Divers are awesome supplemented with rock lobbas. In 7th edition I think gobbo bolt throwers were a good value, but with the new slipshod rule and 5 more points they are not as good as they used to be.

Currently, the best core choice in the OnG book is savage orcs. Combine that with a level 4 orc with the shrunken head and you have a blender on legs. 'Ere we go! allows you to reroll misses and failed rolls to wound I think(someone correct me on that if I'm wrong). That is all you really need orc wise. As stated, manglers and the arachnarok are pretty awesome, but if you have one, it is a waste depending on the cannons in your meta.

But, as always, what you take in the list is up to you. We could tell you what the best unit in the book is, but you could dislike it.

A NG army can do well, but the variety in the book is what makes Orcs and Goblins effective.
