Space Wolves with The Army Painter

Hello all. I'm building a Space Wolves army and plan to use The Army Painter system for painting. I know that I need Wolf Grey Spray, Strong Tone Quickshade and Anti-Shine Spray, but what Warpaints do I need?

Are you referring to the 7 Day Army Painter by Brandon Palmer? I am actually thinking about buying this tutorial system. Is it any good, would you recommend it?

I cant remember the new line's names. However most are really close.

Bleached Bone
Leadbelcher
Chaos Black
If you are doing the squads shoulders a certain color, buy that color or colors.
Beastial Brown for the fur/pelts

Anything else depends on how much detail you want on the minis.

Also remember to water your paints down at a 1:1 Paint to Water

At a minimum you'll want the Wolf Grey warpaint for touch ups. Here's a list of what I would get if I were going to do the SW:

For armor: Wolf Grey and Ash Grey
For lenses: True Red and Lava Orange
For fur: Leather Brown and Fur Brown
For runes: Skeleton Bone
For Skin: Barbarian Flesh

For weapons, I would go with Matt Black and Plate Armor. If you want the old school yellow weapons, I would go with Demonic Yellow.

My list here assumes for masterclassing the paintjobs. If you want to let the shade do the work, just use the first paint listed on each step.

You always want to thin the bottled paints so you don't clog the details. With the AP sprays, you're better off making 2 or three light passes as opposed to one heavy layer. Heavy layers with AP will clog the details.

Thankyou very much. If masterclassing, does one apply the second paint before or after the shade? Also, what about the Gold bits and the Red/White/Yellow shoulder pads?

And what colour should a Rune Priest's shoulder guards be? Is he Wolf Guard (Yellow)?

Space Wolves with The Army Painter

The Army Painter system is Spray basecoat, details, dip and anti shine. Masterclassing would be done after the antishine. I would do the gold and bone bits as part of the detailing, but before the dip. I would do reds and whites after the antishine. Rune Priests are kind of individualistic so you can do them however you want.

Space Wolves with The Army Painter

I just starting my wolves army, I had a big struggle to go blue/grey or just grey, in the end I went for the army painter route. I use the army painter wolf grey spray first then shade with a mix of oil based black paint and thinners,( i find it sits in the corners better) or just use a watered down normal black wash, then i lighten the blue with a number of different army painter and gw paints. I find the army painter wolf grey a bit too dark myself.
Good luck with the wolves.

They are well painted but I feel as though they should not be so blue looking as Space Wolves are grey with a slight dark blue tinge to they, maybe if you make to blue less obvious by mixing grey and blue or something like that. But if that's the colour you want then paint them like that
