Massive Glue spill...

So... I just opened up my designated "hobby" drawer and found one of my bottles of superglue seemed to have melted itself, spilling the entire contents over the inside of the drawer.

thankfully, most of my supplies were unaffected, though they had some adhesion to the drawer and the liner I had in there. Besides the pile of glue in the drawer drawer itself though, I have two huge problems...

One: one of my resin hive guard was stuck pretty damn hard to the glue. thankfully I got him off the surface, but he still has a lot of glue over the back that I'm trying to file away. The other is a genestealer base that I cannot seem to remove without taking a chunk out of the drawer.

Now, I know Acetone or rubbing alcohol will fix the drawer. I've done enough research to know that it should be fine.

What I am wondering (hoping really) is that there is a solution that will let me clean off the Hive Guard (finecast), & remove the base (GW plastic) without damaging it, though frankly I'm less concerned about keeping the base intact, as I can always make a new one.

So... um, help? Also why would superglue melt the bottle it's kept in? It wasn't the heat... the other bottle less than an inch away had no problems.

Nail polish remover should clean off your figure; but I can't fathom why a bottle of superglue would melt. Did you have it mixed with an accelerant?

Can't help you with the melting bottle problem but snurl is correct with the Nail polish remover. Make sure it has acetone in it though. If its a metal model you can just whack away at it with the stuff. You may want to go easy on it if its a resin model because i'm not sure how resin reacts with acetone.

Resin can melt if exposed to acetone. I haven't tried it with Finecast yet, but be warned. Simple green also loosens superglue and will not harm resin. You'll need to let it soak though.

I suspect acetone will dissolve Finecast resin. Test a piece of sprue first. The superglue takes soaking to remove it.
