Tau 500 Points, good at taking all comers?

So, Here's the 500 points list I made to take any army in a campaign I'll be playing soon. I need to be geared out to take Orks, Necrons, Marines, Eldar and Guard.

Hq:
Shas'El + Blacksun Filter + Multi Tracker + Plasma Rifle + Missile Pod + Drone Controler + Shield Drone = 105

Elites:
X1 Battlesuit + Multi Tracker + Plasma Rifle + Missile Pod = 62
X1 Battlesuit + Multi Tracker + Burst Cannon + Missile Pod = 50

Troops:
X10 Fire Warriors = 100
X10 Fire Warriors = 100

Heavy Support:
Broadside Battlesuit + Drone Controler + Shield Drone + Team Leader + Blacksun Filter= 93

Here's the deal. I tested this unit against guard earlier and did ok. I got Awful luck with my broadisde, missing all of its shots for the two turns it was alive but without that terrible luck I would have won. originally I wanted all my XV8's to have Plasma Rifles VS. the MEQs but the BC's are still pretty efficient (although 18" range sucks) and are Murder against 5+ saves like Guardsmen and Shootas. I added the Shield Drones last minute and I'm really glad I did, the 4+ save on the Broadside kept it around an extra turn although I'm wondering if it would be more efficient to take a gun drone and set it up in front of him? The other Shield Drone is just there for vanity and taking hits. The XV8s are my hardest hitting unit so it makes sense, not like I can do much else with the 15 spare points.

Right now the Drones are the only wiggle room I have in points, what do you guys think? How can I make this list even more efficient? Is it going to do alright against MEQs despite the lack of PRs? Should I change the Drones to take more FWs or TL weapons?

Edit: Woops, made a mistake with the BS loadouts!

X1 Battlesuit + Multi Tracker + Burst Cannon + Missile Pod = 62
X1 Battlesuit + Multi Tracker + Burst Cannon + Missile Pod = 50

You have the same suit listed twice with different point amounts. I take it the 62 point is really supposed to be PR + MP + MT?

My personal advice at this point level would be to drop the 50 point suit and the SD & team leader from the broadside to get a second broadside. Now put both broadsides in separate groups on opposite ends of your deployment zone but in areas where they have good fields of fire. This will force your opponent to either split up his force to deal with both of them or go after one of them buying some time for the other to get more shots in. Yes you'll probably loose one faster than if you had shield drones on them, but at this point level buying team leader and the shield drone for one more wound is too much when you could have more guns on the field (and 2 wounds for that matter). For that matter you should also drop the SD on the Shas'El to buy more guns (and I don't mean a gun drone as imho they're not so good offensively).

The other option is to drop the broadside idea and go with a hammerhead with railgun. The down side is it's less reliable of a shot but the bonus is you are adaptable to horde or tanks.

I'd also change your fire warriors from 2 groups of 10 to 3 groups of 6 because with a ld of 7 they're going to start thinking of running after taking only a few wounds. More units = less risk of models running away from a bad morale roll.

The other thing to consider would be to forget about the heavy support slot altogether for more crisis suits and have them try fill the role the broadside was doing. You could then make them FB + PR + MT for tank killing and MEQ killing (I'd deep strike them to get them in range).

Fortrez makes a couple of good points, but don't drop the Broadside, it really is well worth the base points.

My thoughts are little different, and come in to flavors though both start by dropping 1 FW from each squad.

1) add a 'Ui upgrade to each now 9 man FW team for the LD8, so they stay little longer against moral checks.

0r

2) buy a Targeting Array for the 88 and the 'El, this makes the list hit a lot harder.

The lose of the 1 Fw from each squad does not really change the break point for the moral test

Re:Tau 500 Points, good at taking all comers?

This is all really good advice! Unfortunately I can't drop an XV8 for another Broadside as I only own 1 atm (new army, starting at 500 points and going up in a campaign) but I don't think I would anyway, the 3 man XV8 team were amazing in the games I've had with them so far! The FB on the 'El and the Shas'Ui on the FWs might be a good use of points, I could drop the Shield Drone on the 'El and take the FB instead, making room for the 'Uis on the FWs.

My only worry about doing that is mixing up the weapons to much, would that not be inefficient? At this stage I would have a BC, a PR, a FB and 3 MPs. Does that make sense? I might even drop the PR on the regular suit for another BC. They absolutely Mulch through guard and eldar!

The only downside right now is that I'm still lacking any significant MEQ stopping power other than weight of numbers. I'm not worried about TEQ's because at 500 points I might see one squad, tops, and all I'll have to do there is take out his squishy brothers and then go to ground on the objective :3

I'll be dropping the SD on the 'El either way, it was just there until I thought of something better.
