Looking for new models to paint

Gooooooooooooooood morning P&M

As my Space Marine army draws to a close a lot faster then I anticipated (I already chewed through a third of it this month) and with a pair of DFG Leviathans my end cap I've kind of found myself in an odd place.

I have no idea what I'm going to be painting next.

I don't really want to take on the massive time and money investment of another army, and frankly three 40k armies and an infinity force are enough for me. What I do want is to paint cool minis. Possibly ones larger then 28mm, fantasy, scifi anything's good with me if I like the model but I have no idea where to look. I'm familiar with Hasselfree, the guys I occasionally source 3rd party bits from and that's about it.

Any one got recommendations for good mini companies? Or cool minis for that matter?

Looking for new models to paint

You could try buying a boxed game and painting up all the pieces. That is always very rewarding and usually gives you lots of variety.

Super Dungeon Explore has some awesome models including monsters. It's also pretty good value for the number of miniatures in the box.

I've also done Mansions of Madness from fantasy flight games. That game is really fun to play with friends, and I enjoyed painting the miniatures a lot. There are a bunch of investigators who are all different characters, and various large and small monsters.

I can also recommend the Gears of War board game (also form fantasy flight). I dunno if it was as interesting to paint as Mansions of Madness. The COG marines are all much the same, and there is only really one monstrous creature. But some of the enemy sculps are really beautiful. And the game has some really good mechanics. It allows for 1-4 players versus an AI card deck. So it's pretty sweet if you enjoy dungeon crawler style game, but can't always find 3+ people to sit down and play one.

Depending on your skill of painting theres also always the option of getting models, painting them pro level and ebaying them for a profit. I hope to eventually years and years down the line get to the point of being able to do this
