How to paint scrapes and damage on gold?

Hi dakka, I'm busy churning through some ultramarine bikers at the moment and am satisfied with my methods for damage on blue armour and silver metal - but how about gold? Does anyone have any experience with this? Im failing to recall any examples of gold miniatures painted in a less than mint condition. For what i have in mind, I go over my regal blue base coat with ultramarine blue and then brown and black for depth. How could I approach this for scratched and battered gold? Google image search tends to show only severe examples, whereas I'm an enthusiast for a minimal approach. I've included a photo of a space wolf leg I found in a painting tutorial which displays the type of battle damage I'm trying to achieve.

Regards
Citizen Luka

Same principle applies. Use a dark brown for the shade, and a silver gold for the highlight. 'scratches' look more convincing than chips.
