18 space marines ( a variety of bolter and close combat weapons/bolt guns), this includes a command squad.
1 space marine rhino
1 space marine whirlwind
5 metal chaos space marine terminators
4 plastic space marine scouts - 3 with sniper rifles, 1 with rocket launcher.
2 random metal space marine scouts ( they are pretty old and i assume they are captains).
4 chaos bikers.
4 quite badly broken grey knight terminators. ( the old metal ones with lances/spears)
a reasonable number of khorne berserkers, they are however badly posed.
a few chaos space marines but i have not counted these.
I also have Typhus, the old metal chaos lord but missing his arm and head, and the body/legs of extremely old bloodthirster ( i think possibly late 80s)
and a metal space marine jump chaplain.

Most of these models are missing arms and weapons, however i have a considerably large bitz box and look forward to the challenge of fixing them all up. The models are the remntants of random things i bought as a child before really appreciating the models.
I would appreciate any advice or ideas on how to convert these items into a functional chaos marine force, or perhaps even suggestions as to what things such as the grey knights and the scouts could be converted into.

Greenstuff would be great for adding chaos symbols or spikes to the armor as needed. It seems like most of the Chaos Terminators that I see in the literature have the extended tusks on their armor that the loyalist marines seem to have eschewed since the Heresy. I think a little work with some balsa wood or scrap sprue could produce some decent tusks for use with your termies.

If you have access to some clippers that are capable of cutting stronger metals (I had to buy a set especially for this) you can buy yourself a box of pins or tacks, and clip the sharp ends off. A pin vise, some glue, and a short while later, and you can make your marines as spiky as you want. I first did this for a commission for a friend, and it has the added benefit of not only looking more elegant and realistic than plastic spikes, but discouraging lookie-loos from fingering your minis.

Jimsolo thanks for your advice, using actual pins is a fantastic idea. my green stuff was so old it wouldnt mix properly but i do have a reasonable quantity of super smooth miliput, so il experiment with that.
