Can White scar be used as a primer?

short answer, no

long answer, nooooooooooooooo

seriously, not it cant. simply because its not a primer. primer is more then a color to cover the plastic. it has chemicals in it to improve the bond to the plastic and it makes sure that the paint will stick to the model better

Generally, if you try to use a paint as a primer, it will come off. I have used it to save time when weapon swapping on models, and if you handle the area often, it rubs paint away and you can see bare model. Worse on resin and metal I'd say than plastic, if you put more colors (or layers) on top, it's not quite as bad, but I would still not recommend it. Hope that helps.

It's a bit thick to use a primer, I'd suggest just sticking to the Skull White spray, or watering it down quite a lot.

Can White scar be used as a primer?

Army Painter does multi-coloured primers, which, I am told, are more like the traditional primers. I've never tried them, so I cannot vouch for them.

I have used Tamiya Primers quite extensively, though. All you really need is a brief spritz, and it gives really good teeth for paint. They are spray can based, though, and are expensive.

Brush-on primers may be had from a variety of manufacturers, from Humbrol, to Vallejo. I've only ever used Vallejo, and you can either brush it on (messy as can be!), or blast it through an airbrush.

Unfortunately, the Vallejo stuff is inconsistent in its manufacture. Some batches are great, provide tremendous bite, and are just fantastic to work with. I've had other batches where the bite simply isn't there, and paint sloughs off. I suppose it's all down to luck.
