imperial primer

I have the technical imperial primer from citadel that you brush on. I'm used to using auto spray primer which I love but this crap is wierd, I'm used to the full nice coating so what I'm asking is how much is enough? should it be thick and black or should I see brush strokes? can someone maybe post pics or describe what your brushed on primer looks like and why its better. I think I'm not using enough because paint keeps coming off the vindicator I'm painting

I use the primer when I add bits to already painted/primed models, and from experience, you need to really shake it before you use it, or it just slides off. Other than that, treat it as a normal paint, adding a medium coat, I find that gives the thin primer a good solid finish.

If its done correctly, it should look like you used a spray. Almost looks better because you can control how much paint goes on, and there isn't a loss of detail.

imperial primer

You're painting it onto a vehicle, which is probably why it's not going so well. I use it on infantry models since they're so small, and as a touch-up item. In the end you shouldn't see any grey underneath, but brush strokes can be okay since you'll be painting over that. If paint is coming off then you need to let it dry longer, or shake up the pot. If any agents separate inside the pot it won't work properly.
If you need pics I can try and take some, but this could help:
