Nurgle Army 1500 pts. Any tactics?

This is not my final army. More half what I have and half what I want. I don't plan on keeping the Hellbrutes (they die quick);
I am wondering if anyone has any good tactics for this list. Im planning on putting the smaller zombie squad and the Reaper AC
Hellbrute as a gun line with the quadgun. Deep striking the Obliterators and the Termies w/Typhus. I was just going to tarpit
the larger zombie squad and run the CMS and other Hellbrute behind them. I tried not deep striking last time and got chewed up
by shoota boyz and pie plate bombs. This army does seem to struggle with getting shot at, any suggestions?

Typhus

Chaos Cultist
21 Extra
Zombie

Chaos Cultist
25 Extra
Zombie

CSM
5 extra
MoN
Power Weapon
Plasma Pist
Plasma Gun
Melta

Terminators
2 extra
MoN
2xPower Fist
Heavy Flamer
Chain Fist
Combi-Flamer

Hellbrute

Hellbrute
Reaper Autocannon

Ageis Defense Line
Quad Gun

Obliterator
MoN
2xExtra

1500 pts.

I really think you need some tough troops. A squad or 2 of plague marines would be a worl of help. I'd personaly drop the helbrutes for them, even having FNP I can't see the zombies being too tough? Maybe I'm wrong as I've never used them?

The way I would play your list is very, very defensively focusing more on objectives and less on wiping your opponent off the board. You have a decent core of troops that are decently durable, so park them on objectives and keep them alive through any means necessary. Stick to cover, if possible, and don't be afraid to go to ground if it means staying on the objective (zombies can't do this, unfortunately). Prioritize targets that threaten your objective holders, even if it means sacrificing other elements of your army.

I wouldn't deep strike the terminators, they need to be a presence on the board from turn 1. Depending on the type of army you're playing against either keep behind your front lines, taking potshots and threatening to counter charge anything that charges your objective or put them between your troops and whatever your opponent has that's a big threat to said troops. This goes for the Hellbrutes as well.

I would keep Typhus as a presence near the front of your army, sitting in one of the cultist squads. That way your close combat killing power isn't all concentrated in one unit, and he can give some much needed oomph to the plague zombies who, frankly, aren't going to kill much on their own.

As for some small quality of life changes.... First, I would drop the plasma pistol from your marine squad and turn the melta gun into a second plasma gun to give the squad a more defined role. On the terminators, I feel like the chainfist is a bit overkill in almost every situation, swap it out for something more economical and buy yourself another combi-weapon. For the Obliterators, I feel as though there's no reason these guys shouldn't be marked Nurgle, particularly in a Nurgle themed list.

For a more substantial overhaul, I don't think you need that many zombies. They're cheap and don't run, sure, but are still too fragile to effectively tarpit much and severely lack in killing power. Also consider having non-zombie cultists man the quad gun, the ability to go to ground for +2 cover can be huge.

Dropping the Hellbrutes for something more effective would be a good move forward. Helldrake, Maulerfiends, more Obliterators, etc.

You might also want to consider fitting in some plague marines. Solid unit all around, fits the theme, and easy access to special weapons.

Oh I forgot to mark the MoN on the Obliterators. 21 Plague marines and 2 Helldrakes are on my list for 2k points, and I'm ditching the Hellbrutes ASAP. I am using them to get me up to 1500 points. Should I upgrade the camped cultists on the QuadGun with autoguns, MoN, shotgun and Heavy Stubbers? That seems like a lot of points for blast targets to me, but the extra dakka would be nice.

If you find you have trouble keeping them alive then more bodies would probably do you more good than the mark of Nurgle, and the chances of autoguns/stubbers being effective against whatever the quad gun is shooting at are pretty slim.
