Camcorder for Painting - Recommendations?

Hey,
I'm doing some work on videos of painting and conversion, and I've noticed my camcorder just isn't as good as I would like.
I'm just wondering if any of you have experience picking up camcorders specifically for painting, and if you could recommend any.

The important things I personally am looking for is 1080p resolution, good focusing, and not breaking the bank is always appreciated.
Audio doesn't matter, I have a really good rig for that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Of course pointing out what you use and linking one of you vids would be another great way to judge it.

(Sorry is this is the wrong thread but Photography seemed like a reasonable topic for this)

Camcorder for Painting - Recommendations?

to be honest if modeling is your main focus just get a modern digital slr, most of the newest ones will do the camcorder thing and will do so with a ridiculously better lenses. This is kind of important as a lot of normal camcorders may have issues focusing on macro/small things and to be honest given what the newest Nikons do for video compared to what a normal camcorder does theres kind of no reason to buy one unless you are going for something that exceeds the price of an SLR that can do video capture.

Re:Camcorder for Painting - Recommendations?

Huh, my Camera (Canon Rebel XSi)doesn't have a video option, but your suggestion got me to look into the matter.
Found a program that's able to turn the XSi into an HD video camera as long as it's connected to a pc.

It's most definitely not as versatile as a camcorder, and only records as 21 fps, but it's image is really clear and has a good focus/balance setting on the pc programs menu so you don't have to reach up and adjust it whilst filming.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zX5oT6z_Mw

Thanks
