Painting Bases, Privateer Press Style - any pointers?

It seems I'm rusty when it comes to earth shades - that what you get for mainly painting urban bases for way too long

That being said, can someone give me some pointers on which paints to use to get something like the nice, light brown bases PP uses on most of their models, as shown in the pic below? My FLGS carries all GW paints and some Vallejos, and I'm planing on buying whatever I need tomorrow. Much appreciated!

That looks like it is done by using a brown wash over sand. The drybrush it up with steel legion drab and then some Tyrant skull. That would get you an effect close to what is here. If you find it isn't quite the same a light drybrush of very pale skin tone may help it.

I suggest that you use a fairly muted brown for the wash or try that textured stuff, stirland mud. A warm brown won't look quite like what I see above I think.

I suggest that you get what you think you nee and experiment a bit on spare bases before you commit yourself.

Hope this helps.
