Liquid Green Stuff question

I was considering the idea of using a stippling brush to randomly apply built-up layers of liquid green stuff onto a dozer blade, then covering it with various browns, etc. The idea being to create a texture underneath the color that would give the illusion of realistic mud. Has anyone ever tried this? Does anyone have any suggestions?

i think this might actually look quite good... you could always add a bit of fine sand too... i´ve used LGS to create lots of organic structures... mud would also be a good way...

good luck!

Do it on a test piece before you ruin your model, unless you have done it before then don't ask and just do it! What kind of world is this on? If it's a regular swamp then you could add a little bit of flora in it (like small roots/little leaves) to make it look like it's been churned up.

Rather than using liquid GS you could try GW's new textured paints, which are basically thick paints with sand in them. Having looked at pictures of people using them on bases I'd say it would be pretty spot on with what you're trying to accomplish.

I sometimes use liquid green stuff to build up gore effects on weapon and I think it works great. However the thick paint is probably better for mud.

I'd also use a texture paint, instead (whether GW's, one of the many others available, or a DIY mixute). Haven't used LGS, but my experience with Vallejo's Plastic Putty leads me to believe it won't give the effect I imagine you're looking for.
