1000 point Ork list

well, its 996. BIG DEAL 'UMIE

this list works quite well if you don't know who you are going to face. I like to think of it as versitile, but please comment if you think otherwise. I know that loads of Ork players are going to mock me for taking big choppas, but they shouldn't be overlooked. you may be suprised by the amount of damage they do. And besides, anyone who has played retribution knows that a Kaptain with a big choppa just looks damn awesome.

HQ

Warboss - 93 points
big choppa
cybork body
'eavy armour
TL shoota
ammo runt
bosspole
stikkbombz

Troops

Nobz - 175 points
big choppas
TL shootas
'eavy armour

Boyz - 161 points (11 models)
choppas
nob wiv big choppa, slugga, bosspole, 'eavy armour
big shoota
trukk wiv big shoota, reinforced ram, grot riggers, stikkbomb chukka, boarding plank, wrecking ball

Boyz - 116 points (11 models)
choppas
nob wiv power klaw, slugga, bosspole, 'eavy armour
big shoota

Boyz - 116 points (11 models)
shootas
nob wiv power klaw, slugga, bosspole, 'eavy armour
big shoota

Fast attack

Dakkajet - 130 points
ace pilot
TL big shoota

Stormboyz - 120 points (11 models)
boss zaggstrukk

'ok den, back ta work'

WAAAGH!

1000 point Ork list

General Annoyance wrote:

Warboss - 93 points
big choppa
cybork body
'eavy armour
TL shoota
ammo runt
bosspole
stikkbombz

Few things that probably need changing here. Firstly, drop the Ammo Runt, it's not actually doing anything, as you're re-rolling to hit anyway as your Shoota is twin-linked. I'd also drop the Stikkbombz, as you're going to be striking last quite often anyway.

General Annoyance wrote:
Nobz - 175 points
big choppas
TL shootas
'eavy armour

Ok, how many Nobz are there in this squad? However, the main problem is that they are a small squad with no way of getting into your opponent's line quickly. If you're planning on using it to hold your objectives, there are better units.

General Annoyance wrote:
Boyz - 161 points (11 models)
choppas
nob wiv big choppa, slugga, bosspole, 'eavy armour
big shoota
trukk wiv big shoota, reinforced ram, grot riggers, stikkbomb chukka, boarding plank, wrecking ball

Ok, that Trukk is far too expensive for an AV10 open-topped vehicle. Drop the Boarding Plank, as it's not going to be of much use as you only have a Big Choppa. Drop the Grot Riggers, if you're immobilised you're useless anyway. Drop the Wreckin' Ball, the job of the Trukk is to get your guys into the opponent's line, nothing more, and drop the Stikkbomb chucka, you're striking last most of the time anyway.

General Annoyance wrote:
Boyz - 116 points (11 models)
choppas
nob wiv power klaw, slugga, bosspole, 'eavy armour
big shoota

Boyz - 116 points (11 models)
shootas
nob wiv power klaw, slugga, bosspole, 'eavy armour
big shoota

These guys suffer from the same problem as your Nobz unit. They aren't fast enough to get into your opponent's lines. Give them Trukks, and take a small squad of Gretchin to hold home objectives. If you don't have enough points, drop one of the Boyz squads.

1000 point Ork list

What are you using to hold your own table half objective(s)? All your units seem geared at going forwards, which is orky and fun. But I tend to do this also with my orks, and without holding my own objective it's hard to win..

Also, the two units of 11 boys footslogging I'd be more happy with combining to one of 25-30 shoota boys. You do want fearless.

Re:1000 point Ork list

ok, thanks for the feedback

rampage - i get your point with the 5 nob unit: I would usually give them a painboy to help soak up the firefire as I do use them as a stalwart objective defender squad. I wrote this list in 6th ed and only realised later that they nerfed furious charge, so yes, I will drop the bombz.
Shame dat boss, I like 'em when they go bang!

ammo runt - well, it's only 3 points, and it looks cool

as for the boyz in the trukk, I have made the trukk more expensive so I can be sure it gets to the line. I've often found that as a problem when someone stuns it or imobilises it. I have made this unit the main target y'see, so it gives time for the other boys to sneak up and the like. Big choppas are great for everything. consider how many vehicle have a rear armour value of 10 - loads of them. and I don't get an initiative penatly when I charge (however, due to gw's cock up of furious charge, i'll probably swap it).

Westiebestie - after you have played orks for a while, you relialize that unless you are using the green tide tactic, making bigger mobs is a stupid idea. due to the fact that orks get killed pretty easially, you only really get one 'second wind' from fearless. It also encourages the enemy to target them. since i've already got a dummy unit, this is not neccessary.

thanks again for your opinion guys

1000 point Ork list

Making your Trukk more expensive doesn't necessarily mean that you'll get to your opponent's lines. All it means is that you lose more when you don't. The Wreckin Ball, Boarding Plank and Stikkbomb chukka don't make it any more likely, just more expensive. If you want to make sure you get there Red Paint Job isn't bad.

The Grot Riggers aren't doing too much. If you're immobilised you'll already lose a turn as you'll spend it not moving, at the minimum, points better spent on more Trukks. Saturation is the key to getting some Trukks into your opponent's lines, although it's unlikely they'll all get there.
