But to help you out a bit. Lot's of folks use foam, there are plenty of companies that sell it,

BattleFoam makes customer trays for armies but they are not cheap.

Sabol has pluck foam (you basicaly pull little tabs out to get the shapes you want).

there are others as well.

As to bags..... they are not cheap. If your flying with them its a good idea.

if your just taking your stuff from the house to the store in your car. I use big plastic bins I bought at Walmart cheap and just put my foam in them. works great and saved me a few hundred on bags....

I went with KR for mine as Battlefoam's cut out shapes simply didn't work if you had a miniature that wasn't posed in the standard way or if it placed on any scenic/resin base.

Not to mention KR's customer service has always treated me very well with everything from helping me choose foam, detailed advice on repairs (due to my own negligence).

I do recommend contact cement for holding bases on (assuming you've glued a base layer of foam under a foam cutout tray.

I tried spray adhesive (too weak) and pliobond (too sticky and wastefull) and basic contact cement is the one thing I've found that works well. That said, a fellow in my club says there is a specific foam adhesive that comes in a caulk-gun tube that works really well for bonding foam. I plan to check it out in the future.

If you want to spend money on a high-end case then more power to you, but if it's just a peeling foam bottom, then there are easy solutions.

If you think our hobby has expensive cases, you've never seen these. Of course, two members of my family work there so I can get them a little cheaper.
