I'll be going for the either the Army Green colour or the Skeleton Bone colour. My plan is to get them primed and then add my patches/ camo effects in the other colour.

Having only ever hand painted tanks and vehicles in the past I'm unsure of which way round will produce the better results. My instinct is saying spray them the lighter colour as the darker colour will go on quicker and easier.

If this is successful I may even use the technique on my infantry if that could be viable?

Also has anyone got the lowdown on the army painter quickshade products? Are they any good? I want to make my models look neat and coherent as possible but due to work and family I have very little real time to spend hours labouring over models these days so a speedy technique is pretty vital.

As for quick shade i love the stuff but with a tank you will have to do the splash on way which jst means use a brush to colour the model n then leave for about 30secs n use brush to suck up excess from the model.

The sergent in the picture was dipped in the Minwax, and then hit with matte varnish spray. I did a whole 2000pt army in a week with this technique.

My advice is to dip, flick off vigorously, wait 5 minutes, take a largish throw away brush, and use it to remove any pooling varnish. IE you get a big blob at the bottom of the legs or sitting on top of the models head. Just work it around. Or wipe it off with the brush.

I did 20 tac marines, 20 terminates, 3 dreadnaughts, and 2 predator tanks with this method in a week in my spare time. It actually gets a surprising number of compliments at the bunker.

For large vehicles the best method I've found is to get some largeish paint brushes like for house trim painting. Dip it in the minwax wipe off the excess, then use nice smooth strokes to apply it semi-thick to the vehicle. As it sets all the brush strokes will level out, and it will run into the crevaces. These guys were primed with the AP bone spray.

Thanks Gadge I'll be careful with the can and give those videos a watch. I went on their website to find the colours I wanted but didn't spot the videos. Those skellies look great with that wash and I'll prolly go with the Sketeton Bone one, although the Desert Yellow looked good as well...

Never heard of Minwax before but thanks for the tip, is it a US product? The AP one I saw is nearly £20 so if I can make a saving then great. I'll have a butchers and see if I can get it over here. That BA does look smart.

I'll order my can now (still haven't decided on the colour!) probably try and make my Guard army my first P+M thread so I'll put pics up to show how I'm getting on. I did think the same of my Dark Eldar though and they've been finished for 6 months.....
