Subscribed to the blog, enjoying your articles and battle reports, thanks for the the content.

Regarding your last battle report, just wondering why you didn't attach the baron to the council to allow bouncing in and out of combat?

Thanks and I'm glad you like it!

To answer your question, it was a huge mistake. I normally put the Baron with the Seers, as hit and run is crucial for them. In this game, I wanted to give the Beasts better LD. In addition, I wanted to threaten the Manticore early with a turbo boost.

What I should have done is chained out with the Seers and had the Baron leave the Beasts to join them before the first charge into the Manticore and ASM unit. I think the game would have been potentially very bad for my opponent then.

Also, was the libby still not in with the blob? if he was they couldnt not have been swept.

I should have specified that the Libby died to the Seer's shooting. I believe that I caused in the neighborhood of 18 wounds with two Destructors and the remaining shots. The Libby took about 5 saves, failing 2. At that point, they were a pretty easy sweep in CC.

Great report nice job crushing the blood angels. A couple of questions for you because I love Eldar but why no embolden on the seer council? Makes you get re-rolls on the psychic tests that are the lynchpin of the squad? And what are your thoughts about the Deldar side of your force? I am considering getting some to accompany my Eldar as well and just don't see the reason for the beast pack.

Final question more preference for me but I loved the pictures and have you considered taking a few more of the various stages of the battle? I could pretty easily follow what was happening but always nicer to see the table itself. Regardless loved the report and can't wait for your next.
Ps sorry for any typos using iPhone and the autocorrect is sometimes a little stupid.

I am considering getting some to accompany my Eldar as well and just don't see the reason for the beast pack.

I don't use embolden because I already have Runes of Witnessing on the Farseers for psychic tests. The chances of failing a LD 10 test on 3d6 drop the highest is ridiculously low (though it did happen in this battle). In addition, I don't really imagine they will lose enough models in close combat to force a rough leadership test. If they ever lose by two or three models, something has already gone horrifically wrong.

As for the Dark Eldar, I like them thus far. I've found that having "hit and run" on the Seer Council is indispensable. If not, they get bogged down with fearless units and even large MEQs. Warriors are a decent troop choice. Poisoned weaponry is very solid now, as most players have moved away from mech. Poison also helps against high toughness units and Iron Arming MCs. The Beastpack is a good unit. I think that if you have the free FA slot and the points, they are a solid buy. They have to be used correctly though. Know their limits. Finally, I like the Talos. At 105 points, it isn't a big investment. At the same time, the TL Splinter Cannon and TL Liquifier can really put out some hurt. I don't know that they fit every list, but it isn't a huge commitment points wise.

Final question more preference for me but I loved the pictures and have you considered taking a few more of the various stages of the battle? I will try to take more pictures in the future. I know that it makes it a much better read. This was sort of the trial run. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for reading!

I'm not surprised your beastpack was wrecked ... no invisibility ... only one 2+ save in the unit. It is only a deathstar when loaded up with invisibility, vect and baron and at least five beastmasters so the pack always survives to multi-assault. It is otherwise just a decent but not overwhelming unit.

I think that when used in a limited capacity, they can bully weaker units. I'd agree that it is not overwhelming in my list. It's a scalpel that has to be used just right or else it dies very fast.
