Tertial lamp! It's cheap, it's great, and the arms on it work really great. It doesn't come on a stand which I like because then you don't have a large footprint from your light taking up work space if you're limited on that. The thing has long arms so you can get some great reach, swivel it around, under or over to get the good lighting you need while working. The stand it has is a clamp so you can clamp it down to the edge of your desk, but it also the ability for you to screw it into the wall.

Light bulbs I guess is a preference over what kind of lighting you want. I'm no expert on lighting but some will suggest a certain type of lightbulb over another because the lighting can affect how you see things. Warm lightbulbs give a yellowy color, daylight bulbs are "clear", fluorescent lights have a slightly different color as well. I personally like to use daylight bulbs. They don't get too hot, and has great lighting. The common one you'll find is the OTT light bulbs but those things are pretty expensive and the OTT branded light stands are way overpriced. Just grab a 40% coupon when Michael's sends those out and use them on the OTT bulbs if you want.

As for lightbulbs, I strongly suggest Daylight bulbs. They will give you the truest colour compared to any other kind of bulb and just happen to seem a lot brighter (plus as itsacoyote said, they don't get too hot so they don't make your workspace uncomfortable).

It doesn't need to cost you much. Cheap lamps are plentiful, daylight bulbs are a few dollars each at most unless you get the Compact Flourescents which cost a bit more. My entire setup cost $30 (after using a Micheals 50% off coupon for the magnifier lamp) including bulbs.

Yup, those look like they will work. Looks like some of the bulbs listed on Amazon are daylight labelled, but have a "yellowy" glow to them still, but those look good. Definitely a lot cheaper than ott light bulbs, personally I think their pricing is way overhyped. OTT Lites - actually, pretty much any lighting that arts and craft stores sell. Even with coupons, they're usually more expensive than equivalent lamps with daylight/full-spectrum bulbs - it's all just branding, targeting niche markets with "specialty" products that aren't particularly special.

I'm liking the Tertial, based on the linked pictures. My current lamp uses a gooseneck instead of hinged arms, which gives decent flexibility, but lacks reach. The small footprint (or no footprint, if wall-mounted) and wide positioning range are appealing, especially for the price.
