Nate Silver predicts the Oscars, what are your picks?

You may read the source article here. I cannot reproduce the article here because there are many embedded tables, but some of his picks:

Argo for Best Picture

Spielberg, Lincoln for Best Director

Daniel Day-Lewis as Best Actor, Lincoln

Jennifer Lawrence as Best Actress, Silver Linings Playbook

Tommy Lee Jones as Best Supporting Actor, Lincoln

Anne Hathaway as Best Supporting Actress, Les Miserables

I think these are a safe bet generally, but my feeling is that Ben Affleck is going to get screwed on Argo. I think the academy voters are going to feel he hasn't proven himself and spitefully pick something else, probably Zero Dark Thirty - those guys love Katheryn Bigelow.

What do you guys think?

I'd agree with Nate on those picks. Argos was all kinds of awesome (surprisingly).

Yes, I thought Argo was very good.

I have a cool story bro.

Spoiler:

I took my wife to go see Lincoln, because she said she wanted to see it. I didn't expect this, and I wasn't pleased much. I don't generally like biopics - I find them boring even if I'm interested in the topic, and I'm not especially interested in either Lincoln or the Civil War. My wife on the other hand tends to, generally, like more intellectual fare, and period pieces, so I guess I wasn't totally surprised. She loves Jane Eyre type stuff, and anything Victorian - if there are scandalous going-ons and British accents, she's down. Still, Lincoln? Well, OK I guess.

We go to see it, I found it to be every bit as boring as I feared it would be. It's like the 19th century version of C-span, all political horse trading to get a bill passed. As we pass hour 2 of what felt like 25, my wife casually leans over and asks, "where the hell are the vampires?".

It turns out she thought that this was Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and that was the only reason she wanted to see it. She didn't even know this movie existed. So, we both sadly endured it for the next 23 hours and left.
